Wedding Weekend

I received a nice compliment from the bride of the wedding I was in this past weekend. I was friends with the groom from high school--however, he wanted me in the wedding, so I stood with all the bridesmaids. Kind of odd by traditional standards, I guess, but I say you should have who you want in your wedding--regardless of sex.

The bride gave us all bridesmaid gifts. She wrote me a very nice note and paid me a very nice compliment:

D appreciates your friendship so much. He truly is a great guy that understands how to treat a gal. I think that can be credited to you. What better way to learn than from such a great female friend.

Guess all those years of yelling at him to open the door for me paid off! :)

You Said

Hmm, so was this "guy friend" that got married an ex-boyfriend? One that you "trained" for this?

So you taught him how to be a man? I bet it's hard for her to follow you!

It's so hard to be friends with the opposite sex; congratulations. And especially to the bride that appreciates it. :)

I had a good friend get married a couple of weeks ago; she was my dance partner for nearly 12 years. Starting in the fall, her husband is going to be my golf partner. I think the dancing days are over though. :P

Nope, not an ex, Iceman. Just a friend.

That is so neat to hear. I often wondered if there were others really like me around who did have those very true special male friends. I had them as a child, a teenager, in colleage, while dating my husband, and yes even now some of my very best friends are males.

You are so right she did pay you a compliment and you are so lucky she looks at it in that manner some females are still so caught with the green eyed monster they don't.

Much congrats Lawren. Training straight men to obey ranks right up there with training cats for sheer difficulty.

I attended the wedding and thought you looked very nice in your dress. My parents were simply shocked that a friend of the groom would be a bridesmaid but I thought it was very appropriate. And it was nice of her to compliment you, they seemed very happy. :)

Thanks! Were you at the reception too?
