Kidman and Urban?

Nicole Kidman has sparked a new round of speculation over her love life, after she was spotted on a date with Australian country star Keith Urban.

On Sunday, the Oscar-winning actress, 38, and Urban, 37, were seen riding a motorcycle together in rural Woodstock, New York, before enjoying lunch at natural foods restaurant Elijah's Cafe. The pair met in January at a Los Angeles gala dinner honoring noted Australians.

While Kidman's day out with Urban has sparked talk of a romance, her representative insists, "They are friends, and no, they are not dating." Just last week it had been announced that Urban and his model girlfriend Niki Taylor had gone their separate ways.

The Brangelina Shack Up

Both the Star and Us Weekly are reporting that Angelina Jolie and her two children have moved into Brad Pitt's Malibu home.

According to the Star, the actors will split their time between Pitt's $8 million California home and her estate outside of London. "Brad couldn't be happier," a tattler told the Star. "I think he considers Angelina's moving in a sign of commitment."

Word has it that Jolie even visited a nearby preschool with son Maddox, lending credence to the idea that she is taking root in Pitt's domain. But the "platonic" couple isn't hiding away from view.

Us Weekly reports that when the couple isn't in domestic bliss at Pitt's 4,000-square-foot pad, they're shopping or riding their motorcycles with the kids in tow.

Monster Cleavage

Scarlett Johansson said she nearly crashed her car when she saw her "brontosaurus-sized" boobs on a billboard.

The actress slammed on the brakes when confronted with a giant advertisement of herself in Hollywood, according to the Daily Record. And the 20-year-old hinted that the picture of her chest had been digitally altered to promote new movie, The Island.

She said: "I was driving through Los Angeles and I look up and see the biggest photo of me I have ever seen in my life on a massive ad space. "I screamed and slammed on the brakes. I couldn't believe it. "It's very strange to see my cleavage the size of a brontosaurus. My breasts were huge. "I had long hair and my goodness, I couldn't get past the cleavage."

Still Waiting

Filming a Sopranos episode in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Wednesday, James Gandolfini gets in character with some help from his crew: Frank Vincent (Phil Leotardo), in gray; Michael Imperioli (Christopher Moltisanti), in green; and a laughing Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano). Unfortunately, the episode won't air until the HBO hit's final season begins next year.

--Man, I can't wait.

Janice Continues to Make Friends

Janice Dickinson's foul mouth is supposedly sending some members of her West Hollywood gym scrambling for the exits.

One fed-up staffer at the Equinox sweat shop called us to complain that the self-proclaimed "world's first supermodel" has been hurling abuse at her fellow gym rats. "She had a meltdown in the ladies' locker room and started calling everyone the c-word," claimed a snitch. "She is very abusive and out-of-control. Some people are leaving the gym because of her behavior. The management has had meetings about her, but they haven't approached her yet."

But Dickinson — currently causing chaos on VH1's "The Surreal Life" — denied all. "Every time I go, people are very nice to me," she told us from the set of TV's "Charmed," where she was filming a cameo. "I've got a lot of [bleeping] enemies. I'm confounded. Maybe people are trying to make me look like Naomi Campbell, but I'm not Naomi Campbell, I'm Janice Dickinson. I'm sure there are a lot of really angry ladies there because I do have an amazing body . . . There's a lot of angry, jealous bitches." Dickinson is currently rehearsing for her one-woman show, "What Would Janice Do?," at Hollywood's El Rey Theater from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

Eva and Tony

Eva and Tony:

With all those global displays of affection – in France, China and the U.S.A. – it must be love for Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, People reports in its latest issue.

"What's not to like?" the 30-year-old Desperate Housewives star says, adding that the fact that Parker plays basketball for the San Antonio Spurs, her home team, is a plus. "That's nice for my family," she says. "They're excited, but it's not what you do, it's who you are."

Although Longoria had initially been reticent to discuss Parker – "I make it a point never to talk about my personal life," she said in November – she now seems more relaxed about the relationship. She'll even discuss their differences. Well, at least in their heights. "He's 6'2", I'm 5'2", so it's not too bad," she says.

On July 15 Longoria accompanied Parker to China for an NBA charity event. The week before, they visited Paris. Now they're back in L.A., as she starts work on another Housewives season. And while they're closer than ever, for the record, they're not engaged. "Absolutely not," says Longoria.

However, other reports differ. In Touch Weekly says Tony Parker of the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs presented the Desperate Housewives star a four-plus-carat diamond engagement ring.

Jennifer Garner is reportedly due to give birth to a girl and call her Violet.

Garner is said to have left a telling sign of the baby's sex while filming her new movie Catch and Release in Vancouver, Canada. According to Contactmusic.com a source said: "She has a baby name book in her trailer. I don't know if they just like how the name Violet sounds or if it is a family name."

--All I can think of is, "You're turning Violet, Violet."

Reconciliation?

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards are reportedly giving their marriage another try after signing up for counseling sessions together with Hollywood psychoanalyst Rina Freedman.

Richards stunned Hollywood when she filed for divorce from the actor in March - three months before she gave birth to their second daughter Lola. The couple have been spotted together many times after Platoon star Sheen joined the former Bond girl when she gave birth on June 1.

And now sources say they're doing whatever they can to rebuild their shattered marriage. One pal says, "They are putting the welfare of the kids first. Any relationship will benefit the children. They're getting along and Charlie is happy and optimistic." Neither Richards nor Sheen have revealed the details of their break-up, but the actress cited "irreconcilable differences" when she filed divorce papers on March 2.

Another Hollywood Marriage Over?

Is the honeymoon already over for "One Tree Hill" stars Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, who said "I do" just three months ago?

A spy reports: "The marriage is all but done. They are separated, and she is going to file for divorce imminently." Rumors have been swirling about Murray's allegedly naughty behavior in L.A. while the missus was out of town filming "Stay Alive," a teen horror flick.

LuPone's Heading Back to Broadway

Patti LuPone, who won a Tony Award for her performance in "Evita," will portray the entrepreneurial meat-pie maker in a revival of "Sweeney Todd," opening Nov. 3 on Broadway.

The production, which will also star Michael Cerveris as the murderous "demon barber of Fleet Street," will be performed with only 10 actors, who will play all the musical instruments in the show. It will be directed and designed by John Doyle.

"Sweeney Todd," which has a score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, originally opened on Broadway in 1979, with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou heading the cast. It was revived 10 years later with Beth Fowler and Bob Gunton in the lead roles.

Enviga?

Coca-Cola is planning to launch Enviga, a soda that is said to burn 50 to 100 calories just by drinking a 12-oz. serving, next year, per one executive.

Enviga, a green tea-based, caffeinated, carbonated drink, is in clinical testing and is said to speed up the user's metabolism. The beverage will target active lifestyle consumers. A Coke rep said, "Some [of our projects] may find their way to market and some may not." Studies have shown that drinking green tea may promote weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories.

Gap Favorites

For its fall "Favorites" campaign, clothing retailer the Gap has tapped Alanis Morissette, Joss Stone, Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams, Keith Urban and other artists to appear in television and print ads and contribute to a limited edition CD compilation.

In the TV ads, each artist performs a cover of a favorite song while wearing their favorite cut of Gap jeans. Morissette, Phair and Stone, all veterans of Gap advertising, interpret Seal's "Crazy," Irving Berlin's "Check to Cheek" and the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows," respectively.

Urban, meanwhile, runs through Billy Thorpe's "Most People I Know Think I'm Crazy," while Williams takes on the Al Green classic "Let's Stay Together." Other participating artists are John Legend (the Isley Brothers' "Hello It's Me"), Jason Mraz (Bob Marley's "One Love") and Incubus' Brandon Boyd (Elvis Costello's "Alison").

Each of the songs, along with a director's cut of the commercial and behind-the-scenes footage, appears on an eight-track CD that will be distributed at Gap stores and Gap.com. From Sept. 1 through Sept. 17, the disc will be a free gift to customers making purchases of $60 or more, while supplies last. Throughout August, Gap will hand out a free iTunes Music Store download to anyone who tries on a pair of the company's latest jeans styles as part of its "Find Your Favorite Fit" campaign.

Lopez Depressed About Ben's Baby

Jennifer Lopez was so stunned when an interviewer asked her how she felt about her ex-fiance Ben Affleck expecting a baby with Jennifer Garner, she declared that the subject "depressed" her.

Affleck and Garner exchanged nuptials late last month in the Caribbean, shortly before confirming to the speculating public that they were expecting their first child together. But Lopez - who split with her Gigli co-star Affleck at the beginning of last year, four months before marrying Marc Anthony - wasn't expecting that she'd have to speak about the baby news when she sat for an interview with Elle magazine.

Blushing, Lopez said of the pregnancy, "I hope that they're happy. You know, it's a beautiful thing. There are no hard feelings." But when Elle apologized for raising the subject, Lopez, who later admitted that becoming a mother is one of her ultimate dreams, responded, "Yeah, you depressed me."

Rodman Still Gets in Trouble

Even when he's doing good, Dennis Rodman comes across as bad, bad, bad. The former NBA star was pulled over for speeding twice Tuesday while driving his gold-and-black Lamborghini in a charity rally race, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

In between, Rodman was involved in a minor crash and later accused of stealing a hat in what he says is a "misunderstanding" at a gas station in Glenwood Springs. "It's been that kind of day for me," Rodman said by phone late Tuesday.

A clerk at the gas station told police that Rodman tried on a cowboy hat, said he liked it, signed an autograph, then put $20 on the counter for gas. "Unfortunately $40 worth of gas was put in the car, and there was the cost of the hat to consider," Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson told the city's Post Independent newspaper.

Rodman said he went into the gas station to prepay for his gas, then signed several autographs. A female employee gave him a hat, he pumped his gas and left. "The lady gave it to me," he said, adding that he has the gas receipt. "If they want me to pay for the hat, I'll give them double for it."

Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, said he and Rodman learned of the accusations through the media and hadn't been contacted by authorities. Prince said Rodman also was in a minor crash when a Ford Mustang with people taking photographs and video of Rodman for his sponsor apparently lost control and hit the bumper and the driver's side of Rodman's car. No one was hurt.

Rodman said he believed Colorado authorities were targeting him because of his flashy car and his celebrity status. He said he would fight the citations.

Spears is Angry

Britney Spears reportedly lost her temper when she discovered a sexy photoshoot featuring her and husband Kevin Federline posing as each other's servants was rejected as Interview magazine's cover story.

Spears, who was snapped before announcing her pregnancy, had hoped for as much exposure as possible and is said to be angry to be buried inside the magazine. During a telephone interview for the accompanying article, Spears allegedly exclaimed, "We're not on the cover! Why am I even on the phone with you right now?" when informed of the bad news.

But Federline is then said to have countered, "I think it's better off that way that it's not on the cover because it's more of an artistic statement."

The Interview magazine spread, shot by photographer Michelle Kole, features Britney dressed as a maid, showing some leg and a garter as she serves her husband a bottle of Jack Daniel's and then sits on his lap. The spread also features brunette Britney playing with her hair as Federline serves her a poolside cocktail, dressed as a slick butler in a tuxedo and white gloves.

Spears admits the pictures were set up partly to poke fun at the public's perception of the couple.

Alba Gets Honest

Jessica Alba has revealed that she's battled with an eating disorder.

She admitted that as well as eating problems, she's also struggled with obsessive compulsive behaviour, anxiety attacks and insomnia. She told The Sun that she left school at 12 because she was so miserable and wanted so much more: "I stopped going to regular school at seventh grade. I had big dreams. I was focused at a very young age. I hated school. I didn't have any friends."

At the time she was also in the early stages of an eating disorder: "Everyone in my family is overweight. I wanted to be healthier, so I started cooking for myself when I was 12." The problem grew worse after she filmed Dark Angel in 2002, when she stopped eating and started a three-hour-a-day exercise regime. "A lot of girls have eating disorders and I did too. I became obsessed with it."

She told Maxim magazine: "I don't get involved. Paris is my sister, and Nicole's like a sister to me. "They'll be friends again - and they still love each other."

Is It a Musical?

As it turns out, the creators of the new theatrical stage version of the fantasy novels by J.R.R. Tolkien aren't calling their planned $27 million, three-hour epic "a musical" at all. Recent press and marketing materials from the producers refer to the show as a "theatrical event" and an "epic" - never a musical.

Nevertheless, media outlets, including Playbill.com, The Toronto Star, The New York Times and others, have characterized the show as a musical in recent months. As early as 2003, when The Lord of the Rings was announced as aiming for London in 2005, Playbill.com reported that the work was a "musical." (A separate production in London is now a late 2006 goal, following at least nine months at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, where it world-premieres Feb. 2, 2006. Toronto is an open-ended run.)

"The creators of The Lord of the Rings feel that the show is technically a play with music," the show's U.S. press rep, Adrian Bryan-Brown told Playbill.com following a July 25 story about casting for the "musical" The Lord of the Rings.

Too Much Coq?

Sexual double entendres were removed overnight from Burger King's new website, CoqRoq.com, but the company claims it has received no complaints from consumers or other outside groups, AdAge reports.

The deleted content included captions, under photos of young women, that read: "Groupies love the Coq" and "groupies love Coq." The captions were there when the site went live yesterday, but according to Edna Johnson, SVP for global communications for Burger King, malfunctions in the Flash and XML programming were responsible for putting the captions up. A misspelling of "Burger King" had also been fixed, she said.

The site, created by Crispin Porter & Bogusky of Subservient Chicken fame, is designed to look like a rock band site. (The band is named CoqRoq, the lead singer Fowl Mouth.)

Chris Carroll, SVP and director of marketing for Subway's Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust pointed out that there’s a fine line between getting the attention of the core target and offending the masses. But Ralph Norman Haber, partner, Human Factors Consultants and an expert on subliminal advertising, said there's nothing subliminal in the site that men and women appear to be targeted equally. "Everybody is picked on and it's kind of fair game," he said. "I think it's probably an effective ad."

What Em Wants

Eminem apparently hates listening to other people crunch popcorn and talk at the movies. Unlike the rest of us, he's got enough dough to do something about it. On Monday, following his Vegas performance the night before, the rapper was at the Palms in Las Vegas when he decided he wanted to see the "Wedding Crashers."

Management at the 14-screen Brenden movie complex at the resort obligingly shut down one of their theaters for Em and his entourage.

While in town, he slapped down $1 million-plus for a 1,800- square-foot condo at the under-construction Palms Place development. The complex will feature a 60,000-square- foot pool and spa, 24- hour VIP concierge service, restaurants, a lounge, valet service and of course heavy security.

Another Kid and Another Marriage?

Angelina Jolie wants to adopt a third child, it has been claimed.

The actress recently adopted orphaned Ethiopian girl, Zahara, as a sister to her three-year-old Cambodian son Maddox, and is said to be considering extending her family. According to American adoption specialist, Dr. Ron Federici - who advised Angelina during her recent search for Zahara – the 30-year-old star could take on a Russian orphan next.

He said: "I know Angelina was looking in Russia for a baby, and I wouldn't be surprised if she adopts again She just wants to do what is right for these poor kids". Dr. Federici also says he hopes Angelina will inspire other single women and couples to think about adopting from abroad.

Meanwhile, Angelina is set to wed lover Brad Pitt, it has been claimed. According to reports, the couple are desperate to tie the knot and are planning a September ceremony, as soon as Brad's divorce from estranged wife Jennifer Aniston is finalized. A source is quoted by Britain's The People newspaper as saying: "They want to make it official as soon as possible They feel they were made for each other"

She Dumped Him

Heartbroken actress Sienna Miller has reportedly ended her eight-month engagement with Jude Law, telling the actor she never wants to see him again.

The 23-year-old beauty, who started dating 32-year-old Law in October 2003, was devastated last week to read newspaper revelations about the Oscar-nominated star's month-long affair with his former children's nanny Daisy Wright. After taking off her engagement ring last week, Miller has apparently told Law there is no chance of a reconciliation, reports British newspaper The Sun.

A friend of the couple says, "Jude is desperate to see Sienna so they can talk things through - but she point-blank refuses to see him. She is too angry to forgive him. She's told him in on uncertain terms that she never wants to see him again."

Sad

Mindy McCready apparently attempted suicide, and a man charged last spring with trying to kill her was with the country singer when police found her unconscious in a Florida hotel lobby, authorities said Tuesday.

William McKnight, 39, had been charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated burglary in an attack on the 28-year-old entertainer earlier this year. The couple had broken up about two weeks before the attack, which occurred at McCready's Nashville home. McKnight, who described himself as McCready's fiance, told authorities at the Holiday Inn Harborside in Indian Rocks Beach that she had taken a large amount of two substances and drank a lot of alcohol, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Department report.

Sgt. Jim Bordner refused to identify the substances, citing McCready's medical confidentiality rights. Bordner also refused to release McCready's condition or the hospital where she was taken. He said only that she was "recovering at a local hospital."

According to the report, McKnight told authorities that he "had been having some relationship problems" with McCready and gave them a four-page suicide note he said she had written. The note wasn't released.

McCready had testified in May that McKnight punched her in the face and choked her after he said she wasn't going to make a fool out of him by seeing other men. He posted $130,000 bail last month. A few days before the attack, McCready - who had a hit in 1996 with "Guys Do It All the Time" - was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.

Queer Eye Guys Love Bobbi

On June 20th, Friends in Deed honored cosmetics queen Bobbi Brown for her charity work in New York City. Bobbi’s celebratory dinner at Balthazar included a special guest, Queer Eye’s Kyan Douglas, who was so impressed with the makeup guru that he asked her out—on a shoot for his show. Weeks later, Bobbi was taping her first-ever appearance on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, thanks to Kyan himself.

Bobbi appears on an episode grooming guys from Mooseheart, IL, teaching them grooming and skincare tips. The Moose Men, who were flown in from the Moose Lodge to Industria Studios, then put Bobbi’s advice to use on a buff calendar shoot for charity.

Bobbi’s episode won’t air until January 2006, but viewers needing products for naked calendar shoots right now can try Bobbi Brown’s Buff Creamy Shave Foam, Soothing Face Tonic, Lip Balm, and Protective Face Lotion—the same products the makeup artist used on her subjects during the show.

More TV, Less Guide

TV Guide, an iconic magazine for two generations of Americans, is radically remaking itself into a title with a much smaller circulation, a larger, full-color format, fewer listings and more stories about TV shows and stars.

The magazine has struggled to stay relevant in an era where more people look up TV listings online or through on-screen programming guides from their cable and satellite TV providers. TV Guide's parent company, Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc., is also a major provider of those guides and the technology they use.

The revamp, which the company announced early Tuesday, calls for the magazine to slash the circulation it guarantees advertisers by nearly two-thirds, from 9 million to 3.2 million.

The magazine will also ditch its digest-sized format in favor of a full-size, full-color format with more stories about TV shows than listings. The new magazine will have 75 percent stories and 25 percent listings, the reverse of the ratio it has now.

TV Guide also said it would cut jobs as part of the revamp, but it declined say how many. The changes will go into effect with the magazine's Oct. 17 issue.

--Sounds like it's going to be not-so-guide-like.

Morons

Two women who took turns steering a broken-down vehicle face drunk driving charges after their slow-moving car crashed into a parked car.

Kaylyn Kezy, 34, of Gary, was pushing the disabled car, while Melissa Fredenburg, 32, of Chesterton, steered from the passenger seat, police said. The two were moving the car into a parking lot at a nearby motel early Friday in the city about 10 miles east of Gary.

Police said both women had a blood-alcohol levels of 0.17 percent, more than twice the state’s legal limit to drive. Authorities said the women were operating the vehicle while intoxicated — even though the car’s engine wasn’t working.

A prosecutor acknowledged the charges could be difficult to prosecute in court. “The statute and case law supports (a DUI charge) ... but it will be interesting to see,” said Deputy Prosecutor Adam Burroughs, who authorized the charges.

Burroughs said the office had prosecuted drunken drivers who were stopped in restaurant drive-through lanes or who were on private property. Bicycles and motorized wheelchairs are about the only vehicles in which a person would be unlikely to face a drunken-driving charge, he said.

--Hysterical. Thanks for the tip, Ren. And an overwhelming "good luck" on the second half of the bar exam today. :)

Smooth One, Bruce

Bruce Willis, who has three daughters, could teach them plenty.

On Friday, Willis was at a cabana in the Tropicana at the Roosevelt Hotel in L.A. with 20 pals when the subject turned to pickup lines. Willis looked at a woman, a sophomore in college, and said, "What are your plans for sex tonight?"

But Willis' lawyer, Marty Singer, said, "Bruce was joking around with some friends and talking about pickup lines. One remembered an old pickup line [Willis] used to use. The friend said the line and Bruce may have repeated it, but he was not trying to pick up the woman." Still, the woman was "grossed out" and left the cabana.

Murphy's a Jordache Girl

Brittany Murphy is the first celebrity Jordache jeans girl. She stars in a series of new ads for the company that became famous during the 1970s' designer jeans craze.

The ads, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, are a twist on the horse-head logo, with the 27-year-old actress wearing the jeans and a sweater and posing on a horse with no saddle. Jordache said the first ads will run in national publications beginning in September.

"We chose Brittany as our model because she epitomizes everything that the updated Jordache brand is about," Liz Berlinger, president of Jordache enterprises, said in a statement Monday. "She is a classic beauty with an individual sense of style. That really comes across when you meet her."

Oprah Loves Versace

In the last year, Oprah Winfrey has had Narciso Rodriguez, Tory Burch, and Valentino on her show. After a summer off, the queen of daytime television is apparently craving another fashion fix, and who better to feature than Donatella Versace?

Winfrey is said to be in the planning stages to dedicate an entire hour-long episode to Versace, which would air sometime in November. Among the serious topics the two powerhouses are said to be openly discussing on the show are the history of Versace and Donatella’s recent personal comeback after having been a gossip-page fixture for, among other things, her stint in rehab.

In addition, a camera crew is also being planned to tape segments from Versace’s upcoming spring/summer 2006 ready-to-wear show in Milan, though it remains unconfirmed as to whether or not Winfrey herself will be in the front row. A Versace spokesperson said nothing is confirmed yet. The 2005-06 season marks the 20th anniversary of The Oprah Winfrey Show’s debut in national syndication.

Oops

Fargo star William H. Macy thought he was being tricked when prop managers on the set of new low-budget movie Edmond appeared to lose the key to his handcuffs during an embarrassing nude scene.

The actor was left standing wearing nothing but a "sock" to cover his genitals during a prison scene in the new David Mamet film.

He says, "They marched me down this long hallway... I'm buck naked. I'm manacled behind my back and my feet are manacled. I do the scene four times and the property guy comes up and says, 'OK, we got it.' He says to the actor, who is playing the cop, 'Gimme the key,' who says, 'I don't have the key.' There's no key. They've lost the key. I'm buck naked... I said, 'Oh, that's really funny, you've lost the key.' The prop guy said, 'No, it isn't funny, this is really serious.' (Eventually) they found the key. I tell ya, low-budget is not for sissies."

VMA Noms

Pop-punk trio Green Day led MTV's 2005 Video Music Awards nominations Monday, scoring eight nods, while Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliott nabbed six each.

Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and the Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," will go head-to-head in the video of the year category. Also in the running is Coldplay's "Speed of Sound," Kayne West's "Jesus Walks" and Snopp Dogg and Pharrell's "Drop It Like It's Hot."

U2 was nominated five times, while Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, the Killers and My Chemical Romance each received four nods. Nearly 20 other performers received multiple nominations, including Destiny's Child, 50 Cent, the White Stripes, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson and Usher, among others.

The VMAs, which will be hosted by P. Diddy, will air Aug. 28 from Miami (which happens to be the height of that city's hurricane season). Appropriately, the show's theme will be water, and the nominees will perform at the AmericanAirlines Arena, which overlooks the Biscayne Bay.

Like last year, celebrities will pull up to the bayfront arena in gleaming yachts, but this time some stars will arrive in souped-up cars for an auto show on the red carpet. MTV also is planning a water show designed by the company that created the Bellagio Hotel and Casino's water fountain in Las Vegas. "Every year we have to outdo ourselves," MTV President Christina Norman said, according to the Associated Press. "This year is no exception."

Beyonce Wants a Break

Beyonce is hoping to take some "take off" in 2006.

The singer also revealed she hopes one day to be married and have children. The 23-year-old Destiny's Child singer, who is dating rapper Jay-Z, told the New York Post she "might take some time off" after she films Dreamgirls which begins shooting in January.

"One day, hopefully, we'll all be married. We've talked about being in each other's weddings," said Beyonce when asked if she or her bandmates, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland had any marriage plans. "We always said we want to have kids at the same time, so they're all the same age and would be able to grow up together."

Beyonce, who will shortly be seen in The Pink Panther, is currently on tour with Destiny's Child. Earlier this year the group confirmed they will split after the tour when ends in Vancouver on September 10. A Destiny's Child greatest hits album and a DVD is planned for later this year.

Beyonce added: "I know we say we're breaking up, but I'll never say never about getting back together because we're such good friends. "They're part of my life. I'd never say 'no' if someone said, 'Ladies lets sing Say My Name again."

Joss Stone Dumped By Gap

Joss Stone has reportedly been axed as the face of Gap because of her affair with an older man. Sources claim the teenage soul singer was dropped by the fashion giants because she was romancing 25-year-old music producer Beau Dozier.

The star sparked controversy across America when she moved into her lover's Los Angeles home when she was just 17 - below California's age of consent. It meant Dozier could have faced charges of statutory rape if he was sleeping with Joss. Although the star is now 18, she was recently snapped smooching Dozier, which didn't impress Gap bosses, according to a Britain's Mail on Sunday.

An insider revealed: "People take things such as the age of consent extremely seriously in America. "It is all good and well to have glamorous celebrities endorsing the clothes but the backbone of Gap's business is in small towns in Middle America where people are very, very conservative, especially in the Bible Belt.". The source added: "As a result, I think they have made it pretty clear that Stone's association with the company is over".

Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams will replace the teen singer in the ad campaign, while Gap bosses have denied Joss's relationship with Dozier was the reason she was dropped.

Another Epic for Gibson

Mel Gibson is planning another historical epic. And like "The Passion of the Christ," it will be shot in an archaic tongue. The writer-director plans an October starting date to shoot "Apocalypto," set 500 years ago in Central America, his spokesman, Alan Nierob, said Monday.

Dialogue will be spoken in an obscure Mayan dialect, in the same way Gibson used Aramaic and Latin for his religious blockbuster "The Passion."

Also like "The Passion," Gibson will bankroll "Apocalypto" himself. Disney has signed on to release it domestically for a fee, similar to the deal Gibson struck with Newmarket Films to distribute "The Passion," one of 2004's top hits with $370 million in domestic revenues.

"We couldn't be more excited about working again with Mel and his team," said Dick Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, whose previous collaborations with Gibson include "Signs" and "Ransom." "This is one of the most original and unique scripts we've ever had the opportunity to read recently, and we plan for this to be an anchor of our summer schedule."

Due out next summer, "Apocalypto" will feature a cast of unknowns native to the area in Mexico where the film will be shot, according to the Hollywood trade paper Variety. Gibson will not appear in the film, and he's keeping the plot under wraps.

What a Dad

Britney Spears' hubby, Kevin Federline , skipped the first birthday party of son Kaleb, one of his two kids with ex-gal pal Shar Jackson.

A spokeswoman for Jackson claims that little Kaleb's birthday last Wednesday "came and went without a visit, present or phone call from Kevin or Britney." Jackson, who has previously accused Federline of stiffing her on child-support payments, celebrated Kaleb's big day with her and Federline's 2-year-old daugher, Kori, and other family members, though her boyfriend, Quentin Tarantino, was not present.

She Yearns to be Taken Seriously

Jessica Simpson is worried.

The star is nervous that just because she's known as a singer, she might not be taken seriously as an actress.

Jess is stressing that her new movie, The Dukes Of Hazzard, will be a flop at the box office because people see her as a pop star and not a movie one. She plays the sexy, hotpant-wearing Daisy Duke in the film and had to battle it out with fellow pop star Britney Spears for the part.

"I don't want people walking out of a movie thinking I was trying to act or be some movie star," IMDB reports her as saying. "I want them to think, 'That might make me like Jessica a little bit more'."

--Like most people are going to be listening to one thing that comes out of your mouth, Jess. That's not why you were cast.

Duff Battles Back at Ivy Leaguers

Pop star Hilary Duff has hit back at cruel students who taunted her plans to take online classes at Harvard University.

The 17-year-old "So Yesterday" singer was desperate to become better educated but didn't have time to sign up for a proper university course. But some students took exception to their absent celebrity scholar and poked fun at her in campus newspaper The Crimson.

She says, "They wrote that Hilary Duff is a loser and a chicken for taking online classes, because she didn't want to take the prerequisites to get accepted.

"First of all, I have a full-time job. Second, I would like to know if the thousands of other people taking online classes are chicken too, or just me?"

J.Lo Boutique in Chicago

Jenny from the block is moving to State Street.

Jennifer Lopez's first U.S. boutique is set to open on State Street in Chicago Sept. 22.

Jennifer Lopez has selected Marshall Field's store on State Street as the first U.S. store to house a boutique for her JLo line of products. The first JLo boutique opened in Moscow last year. Electric-pink cargo pocket knit pants, a faux crocodile leather clutch purse and a wild rose camisole with a removable garter belt are among items likely to be featured at the singer-actress' store within a store. Planning with the Minneapolis-based Field's began in March.

"We kind of approached each other," explained Andy Hilfiger, president and co-founder of JLo parent company Sweetface Fashion and brother of designer Tommy Hilfiger. "Our long-term plan is to open concept shops in many stores, but Chicago is such a brilliant start."

Lopez, who began her design career in 2001, is set to open the Field's boutique on Sept. 22, when she'll also attend a fashion show highlighting her clothing. The event will benefit Children's Memorial Hospital. Hilfiger said he hopes to open boutiques in department stores in New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Put on a Happy Face

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has shrugged off being snubbed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in this year's Emmy nominations.

Three of the ABC show's stars, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, were nominated for best comedy series actress. (Also overlooked was Nicollette Sheridan, who had gotten a Golden Globe supporting-actress nomination for the show.)

"I was disconnected from newspapers," says Longoria, who was in China when the nominations were announced last week. "I didn't experience the hoopla."

Simpson Scam Artist

Authorities have accused an East Rutherford woman of amassing more than $12,000 in free merchandise by claiming she was an assistant of celebrity Jessica Simpson.

Courtney Handel, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with theft by deception. By Sunday, she had been released from the Bergen County Jail after posting bail. Police say Handel sent e-mails and faxes to companies in which she posed as Simpson assistant CaCee Cobb. Handel told the companies that Simpson, who is playing the movie version of Daisy Duke, had expressed interest in their product lines.

But Handel used her own address, and when police detectives arrived Friday, they found Handel's home full of merchandise. "As we were standing outside, UPS pulled up with 12 more packages. We turned to each other and said, 'If only all our cases could be this easy,'" Detective Sgt. Jeff Yannaconi said.

Among the items Handel collected were PH Advantage cosmetics, Pagliei jewelry, Ted Rossi handbags, Peter Thomas Roth skin care and Fake Bake Tanning Products. Frye sent seven pairs of boots

Face Lift for Tiffany

After having completed renovations to its floors on the second, third, fourth, and sixth levels, Tiffany & Co. has turned its attention to its Fifth Ave. façade. The company famous for its robin’s egg blue box is installing adjacent doors to its current revolving door on the legendary Fifth and 57th St. flagship, and moving the revolving doors further in. Once completed, it will offer greater access to the store, but that meant shuttering its Fifth Ave. doors through September.

In lieu of standard construction scaffolding, Tiffany’s enlisted friend and artist Ruben Toledo to create a façade that would be digitally transformed from his canvas onto the large pieces of plywood. The result is three versions of Audrey Hepburn’s character, Holly Golightly, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, all of which went up right after July 4. Women wearing little black dresses, a man taking a photo of two tourists in front of the Tiffany’s sign, and even Robert Rufino, Tiffany’s creative director, and his Jack Russell terrier, Windsor, are included in the design. “It’s his vision of what the sidewalk would typically look like outside the store,” said a company rep. “And of course, to no one’s surprise, everyone is carrying a Tiffany’s bag.”

While the Toledo art is certainly a novel and artistic approach, what’s more significant is the actual construction itself: it’s the first time the doors are being altered since the store opened in 1940.

Joe Simpson Says...

And Jessica Simpson's creepy dad speaks out:

Jessica Simpson's dad says that his daughter and her hubby Nick Lachey have hit some rough patches in their marriage – but that rumors of a split are dead wrong.

Joe Simpson tells People that in fact Jessica and Nick's marriage is much like his own. "Do they fight? Hell yes, they fight. Have there been moments when Nick has wanted to leave Jessica or Jess has wanted to leave Nick? Absolutely," Simpson says.

But he's quick to add that the squabbles are not a sign of major trouble in the relationship. "(It's the) same with me and my wife. If fighting is a sign of divorce, then we're all going to get divorced. My wife and I have been married 27 years. We've been at the edge of divorce for 26 of them."

The Simpsons and the Lacheys have a secret for solving their differences, he says. "We stick together. So we laugh together. We cry together. We drink together."

Gandolfini's Tantrum

The New York Daily News reports that James Gandolfini got so upset after flubbing a line on the set of The Sopranos last week that he put his fist through a plate-glass window.

An eyewitness at the studio in Long Island City reportedly chatted with Steppin' Out magazine's Chaunce Hayden about the incident, relating that "the actor got increasingly agitated and threw a temper tantrum." The drama escalated when Gandolfini's hand began swelling and the crew feared that production might have to be shut down. Like Soprano, Gandolfini apparently cools off quickly. An HBO rep told the Daily News, "His hand is fine. He's on the set today and in a great mood."

Gandolfini's behavior has not gone unnoticed by the cast and crew, whose lives could have been disrupted if the actor's injuries were serious enough to shut down the set. "Everyone on the set is very upset over Gandolfini's infantile tantrum," said a tattler. "His stupidity could cost everyone their paychecks. Many people could soon be out of work for a long while because he acts like an infant."

R. Kelly Trial Update

Prosecutors narrowed the timeframe in which they allege singer R. Kelly was videotaped engaging in sex acts with an underage girl, but defense attorneys say it's still too broad.

The new time span announced Wednesday still covers nearly three years - January 1998 to October 2000. Defense attorney Ed Genson says prosecutors need to narrow that to two days or the indictment should be dismissed. Kelly was arrested in 2002 and has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of child pornography.

Judge Vincent Gaughan last month agreed that the prosecution's timeframe was overly broad, so prosecutors reinterviewed witnesses and re-examined the tape, which includes commercials on a television in the background. They cut 18 months off their original timeframe of November 1997 to February 2002.
"Hopefully, this will clarify the issue and we can move on," said Assistant State's Attorney Robert Heilingoetter. The case has already dragged out for three years.

Three witnesses also testified about the videotape Wednesday, including a woman who said she was a longtime friend of the female allegedly seen on the tape with Kelly. Simha Jamison, 21, of Oak Park, said she recognized her friend because they both had the same hairstyle at the time. She said the girl was about 14 then. We got that haircut in 8th grade," Jamison testified.

Friends Reunion?

Courteney Cox wants to reunite with her former Friends co-stars for a Thanksgiving special of the smash hit comedy series.

The brunette misses the show desperately, and even has clear ideas about how the characters would have evolved - 18 months after the last ever show aired. She tells the New York Daily News, "I grew up on that show. Monidca has done nothing but give to me - the people I've met, the experiences I've had, the money I've earned, the joy, the laughter. "I can see us coming back together to do something like a Thanksgiving show.

"Monica and Chandler would come in from the country with their two kids, who are a couple of years old now. "I think their story is continuing, even if we're not watching. I think they see each other every Thanksgiving."

Madonna and Friends

Coldplay star Chris Martin and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow teamed up with designer Stella Mccartney to poke fun at famous pal Madonna .

Madonna invited her famous chums to her Ashcombe Manor home in rural England to celebrate her fourth wedding anniversary with director Guy Ritchie and asked them all to perform a song, a poem or a short acting performance. Martin and his wife rewrote the lyrics to American Life and renamed it American Wife - and performed it in the Ritchies' living room.

Madonna recalls, "Gwyneth did fantastic rap and Stella sang background vocals and, well, Chris played the piano." Another musical interlude came when Sting performed on a lute and Madonna herself performed a scene from Restoration play The Town Wench Or Chastity Rewarded.

America's Next Top Talk Show Host?

Tyra Banks, fabulously successful supermodel and UPN reality show host, wants to make it big as the new Oprah.

And the real Oprah Winfrey, the reigning Daytime Talk Queen, has already told her that she has a good shot at being the next big talk show host, despite the trail of Jane Pauleys and Marilu Henners in her wake. "Oprah told me my life is going to totally change," Banks said here to a gathering of TV critics previewing the new fall shows. "She's like, 'You think you're famous as a supermodel? Try being a daytime talk show host on TV every single day when people really feel like they know you and really feel like you're changing their lives.' "

Well, that remains to be seen, when The Tyra Banks Show debuts in September. The 31-year-old Banks says the goal of her syndicated show is to inspire young women. The show will be more Oprah than Ellen. "I'm really trying to reach women of my generation — women 25-to-35," she says. "The show's going to be a lot about self-empowerment, taking control of one's actions. I think young girls will get a lot out of that."

Here are five reasons why Banks thinks she can be mini-Oprah.

1. She can relate to real people.

2. She's not afraid of being seen without makeup.

3. She'll know how to talk to celebrities.

4. She's hasn't failed much professionally.

5. Oprah said she could do it.

--Um, don't think so, Tyra. I saw you do the pre-Oscar red carpet arrivals show once, and you were terrible. Not everyone should be called, "Girlfriend," and it's not cool to say "You go girl," to everyone.

He tells Complex magazine that while Bundchen is "the most beautiful model today, I hate to say it because she has nothing to say from an intellectual point of view. No contribution to make to the human cause. She is an empty shell, one big void as a person. But as a model she is exciting and interesting."

Colin's Complaint

Fearing that a sex tape he made with a Playboy Playmate would be offered for sale, Colin Farrell filed a lawsuit against his former paramour, claiming that the woman was scheming to distribute the racy tape with the help of some online porn experts.

Click here for an excerpt of the Los Angeles Superior Court complaint, where the Irish actor, 29, charges that Nicole Narain is seeking to improperly benefit from the video of their taped tryst, which the couple filmed more than two years ago and agreed would remain "strictly private and confidential."

Instead, Farrell alleges, Narain has recently taken steps to market the film with the assistance of tabloid broker David Hans Schmidt and Paul Nash, marketing director for an Internet porn outfit. Along with seeking unspecified damages, Farrell wants a court order barring the 30-year-old Narain, who was Playboy's Miss January 2002, and her cohorts from selling the XXX production.

Sad

Poor Estelle:

Former "Golden Girls" star Rue McClanahan's career continues to soar, as the sassy actress is currently starring on Broadway in Wicked and has a Hallmark TV movie, "Back To You & Me," airing this Saturday, July 23.

However, she filled ET in on the tragic state of her former "Golden Girls" co-star Estelle Getty, who suffers from dementia, and how she's doing.

"Not well at all, not well at all," Rue told ET. "Estelle doesn't know anything about having done a show called 'Golden Girls.' She doesn't recognize any of us; doesn't recognize us in person and doesn't recognize us over the phone. And she can't really carry on a conversation anymore."

"She's got the same disease, I was told, that Dudley Moore died of," says Rue. "I don't know what it's called. It's not Alzheimer's, and it's not Lou Gehrig's, and it's not Parkinson's. You can't think anymore."

RIP

James Doohan, who played engineer Montgomery Scott, the scrappy Scotsman who repeatedly gave the Starship Enterprise "all she's got" in the original "Star Trek" TV series and motion pictures, died Wednesday. He was 85.

Almost every week, the frazzled Scott was asked to perform an engineering miracle with the warp drive, shields or phasers to save the ship from certain death at the hands of Romulans, Klingons or other assorted aliens.

Doohan died at 5:30 a.m. at his Redmond, Wash., home with his wife of 31 years, Wende, at his side, Los Angeles agent and longtime friend Steve Stevens said. The cause of death was pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease, he said.

Anna Nicole Continues To Be a Moron

Anna Nicole Smith continues to live up to her reputation as a party girl.

The former reality-TV star stunned crowds with her outrageous behavior in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina recently. “She entered a wet T-shirt contest at a club called Freaky Tiki and exposed herself and got into a loud fight with some guy everyone says is her boyfriend,” a source says.

Fans were buzzing about Anna’s antics on her Web site. “I just want to tell all y'all out there in Anna land that all this stuff is true because I saw . . . it with my own 2 eyes!!!!!!!!” one person posted. “She is there with her boyfriend and his friends and family. She was wandering aimlessly around [a] house looking for [pills]. Her boyfriend kept telling her to quit.”

“What surprised me is she was slamming shots after she took [some “nerve pills,”] according to another poster. “Then she continued drinking and by night’s end the boyfriend, (he said his name was Larry) tried to calm her down she smacked him in the face and was kissing on girls and dry humping some old man on his lap who she left with but not without help from her attorney Howard [K. Stern] who had to hold her up and went wagging behind her like a puppy dog, with in fact Anna's puppy dog in his arms.”

The alleged boyfriend was apparently Larry Birkhead, who was wearing a T-shirt that declared: “I love my girlfriend.” Smith, in October, told The Louisville Courier Journal “Larry keeps me occupied so I don't have to worry about being lonely anymore.”

Clean Your Damn Car

Very funny:

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was left red-faced Sunday night after a car valet refused to clean her Land Rover because it was too messy.

The Simple Life star drove her beloved vehicle to a drive-in car clean service in Beverly Hills, California but was turned away because the company is not allowed to touch personal items, and Hilton's car was full of underwear, phones and bags.

A worker tells British newspaper the Daily Record, "Her car was jam-packed full of junk - personal stuff." "There must have been at least 100 magazines, but more shocking than that, make-up, cellphones, handbags and clothes, including a lot of underwear." "We had to turn her away because it's company policy not to touch that kind of stuff."

Seacrest Chic

Clear the clothes racks: Ryan Seacrest is joining the label brigade.

The 30-year-old American Idol host, who says he's always had a taste for fashion, is now offering his own line of men's and women's T's, tanks, distressed polos shirts as well as sweaters, reports USA Today.

Seacrest credits the look of his R Line shirts, which he describes as a blend of "Hollywood, music, pop culture and humor," to his sister Meredith, a publicist for Entertainment Tonight; ex-girlfriend Shana Wall; and his mother, Connie, who once attended the Atlanta Fashion Institute. Prices for items range from $34 to $84.

Al Likes Them Young

Al Pacino, 65, is said to be romancing "Charmed" actress Rose McGowan, 31.

A spy tells Us Weekly that McGowan, whose first date with Pacino was at Mortons in L.A., "thought he was too old for her at first, but . . . Al won her over."

Pacino is no stranger to beguiling much-younger Hollywood hotties. A few weeks ago, he went on a date with newly single former supermodel Elle Macpherson and reportedly hooked up with Winona Ryder several years ago.

--After dating Marilyn Manson, I would think anyone would be a step up.

Up In The Air

Sienna Miller's mum says she doesn't know if her daughter will take back cheating fiance Jude Law. The actress has been spotted without her engagement ring on as shamed Jude desperately tries to woo her back after the affair with his children's nanny.

And Josephine Miller has revealed that Sienna has been "too angry" to cry since the story broke. Ex-model Josephine said: "It is anger and betrayal. "Not in a million years would we have suspected that he would have done that. "I can't comment on whether they will stay together. The least said the quicker it might be mended. "She is a trooper, my Sienna - she has always been very strong."

A pal of Jude said he is inconsolable. "It is tearing him apart and the worst thing is he knows he only has himself to blame," the pal added.

Not The Right Time

Usher has urged the media not to join his girlfriend Eisha Brightwell's campaign to persuade him to marry her. Brightwell is constantly nagging the singer to propose to her.

But he's not ready for marriage, and has begged the press not to add to the pressure he's under by writing articles speculating when they will get engaged. He says, "Don't put any more pressure on me than she has, man." "We've been dating a while, but you've got to give us a little time." "I try to keep my relationships private - it's hard having a relationship as an entertainer in the public eye."

--How pathetically unattractive--get a grip, girl! If you have to nag and beg, there's a problem.

The Art of the Goodie Bag

Instead of a small token of appreciation given to celebrities at parties, now it's a "swag suite" full of long tables of iPods, digital cameras and designer clothes, which VIPs stuff into luggage. The goodie bag has come a long way. The practice has become so excessive, so key to luring stars to awards shows and parties, that there's now a college class devoted to it.

"The Art of the Goodie Bag," a three-hour, four-part class at the Fashion Institute of Technology, teaches budding publicists how "to procure goodies with ingenuity and creativity." "It's becoming a serious industry now," says Jane Ubell-Meyer, a former TV producer who teaches the class and owns goodie bag company Madison & Mulholland. "A great goodie bag is a fabulous event. An OK bag is an OK event. And a terrible bag is a forgettable event."

As such, every event tries to top every other. Even Live 8, a free concert to battle African poverty, gave its participants $4,000 gift bags. Ubell-Meyer is responsible for the Hamptons Jitney gift bags, where certain lucky riders get a cushy Vera Bradley travel case filled with an Equinox membership, Everlast boxing gloves and knitting kits. The spunky former TV producer also designs "The Ultimate Nominee" bag for the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Tonys, as well as the VIP goodie bags during Fashion Week.

Ubell-Mayer explains that every successful goodie bag must have three essentials: the Wow factor (a BlackBerry), the Oh My God I Need That factor (Bose headphones) and the Filler (candy, pens, gift certificates, makeup).

She teaches how to pitch big corporations and persuade them to donate their products. She emphasizes the power of trade shows. And she has the students role-play, pretending they are executives at Clarins or Estee Lauder.

Alba Says...

She's one of the woman Tom Cruise is said to have wanted to "audition" as his girlfriend, days before he plumped for virginal Katie Holmes.

But now Jessica Alba has taken a swipe at the twosome. The star of new superhero flick Fantastic Four said: "I don't date actors and I don't date people to get ahead in my career."

She also spoke out about the public nature of Tom and Katie's stomach-churning lovefest, which reached a peak with his announcement of undying love on Oprah. Jessica, who is dating director's assistant Cash Warren, said: "I'm madly in love with Cash but I don't feel the need to talk about it. "I don't want to comment on Tom's relationship with Katie... But, I'm a private person and I don't feel you should talk about your private life. I think it's best to keep this sort of thing to yourself."

Alba also suggested, "It's about time there was a female Bond. Women should get to kick ass like him. "It would be great for us to have hordes of men around instead of the women flocking to some guy. "I'd love to have Bond men like Michael Caine, Clive Owen, Jude Law and Ioan Gruffudd," added Jessica.

Smurfs! Coming To A Theater Near You

It's been a long time since we saw any new adventures from the small blue gnome-type things called Smurfs. But all that is about the change, with the news that the Smurfs, like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before them, are about to make the leap from the small screen to the big, in CGI form.

The Smurfs are small blue creatures "three apples high" who live in a town of mushroom shaped houses in the woods. There, they hang out in their nifty white trousers-and-hat combos – except for Papa Smurf, who wears red, and Smurfette, who wears whatever she wants – and try to avoid the attentions of the dastardly sorceror Gargamel, who's determined to wipe them out.

--La la la-la la la, Sing a happy song. La la la-la la la, Smurf your whole day long.

Emmy Voters Like Their Women Chaste

Eva Longoria and Nicolette Sheridan were snubbed by Emmy Awards judges because they play loose women on Desperate Housewives, according to US awards buff Tom O'Neil.

O'Neil, who runs entertainment industry website GoldDerby.com, insists the Emmys panel often ignore "floozie" characters in hit shows because they're prudish. And he's certain that's why Sheridan and Longoria were left off the list this year. He says, "All three of the other Housewives got nominated. The two who got slapped have one thing in common - they play hip-wiggling tarts with loosey-goosey morals.

Emmy voters may be regarded as typical Hollywood hedonists, but, in fact, they're older TV industry veterans who can often act like prudish snobs. Look at Heather Locklear, who was nominated six times for Golden Globes, but never earned a bid at the Emmys for Melrose Place or Spin City. And the only cast member of Frasier who was never nominated was Peri Gilpin, whose character, Roz, was accused of bedding everyone at Frasier's radio station."

--Yeah, but wasn't it the least slutty character of Charlotte on Sex and the City the one who didn't get nominated until the last season?

Lil' Kim Sues

Lil' Kim has filed a $6 million lawsuit against one of the two men who gave wounding testimony at her recent trial on perjury and conspiracy charges.

Lil' Kim was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for lying to a federal grand jury about her involvement in a 2001 gun battle outside a Manhattan radio station. The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, has been ordered to report to prison Sept. 19.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court, she accuses James "Lil' Cease" Lloyd of preparing to release an unauthorized DVD, "The Chronicles of Junior M.A.F.I.A. Part II: Reloaded." Lil' Kim says she left Junior M.A.F.I.A., which included Lloyd, in 2001. She says the DVD, like a predecessor, was unauthorized and improperly uses her name, image and likeness, amounting to false advertising and false endorsement.

Don't Bite the Hand That Feeds You

Movie star Helena Bonham Carter loves starring in boyfriend Tim Burton's films but wishes he would give her more glamourous roles.

Burton's latest movie Charlie And The Chocolate Factory sees Bonham Carter toning down her Hollywood beauty to play Charlie's bedraggled mother.

The couple found love when they first worked together on Planet Of The Apes where the actress had to spend hours in make-up to achieve the wrinkly primate look. She says, "It was a very small part so it's hardly a career move." "When I had a word every now and then I got really nervous. I also had to put these fake teeth in, which made me look like a chipmunk."

Did She Dump Him?

For Sienna Miller on Monday night, the show went on – but can the same be said of her engagement to Jude Law? Arriving for work in the London West End production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It with her flashy engagement ring missing from her left hand, Miller is spurring rumors that she has split with fiancé Law, who has publicly admitted to a steamy affair with his children’s nanny.

Despite personal drama, the 23-year-old actress – with two bodyguards at her side – arrived at Wyndham’s Theatre around 6:20 p.m., more than an hour before showtime, using a front entrance to outwit paparazzi gathered at the back. Onstage, her voice seemed strained at times, but Miller remained poised through all three hours of the sold-out performance. The New York-born and classically trained Miller plays Celia, the cousin and friend of main character Rosalind.

After receiving a warm ovation during the curtain call, Miller smiled slightly and quickly wiped her face with both hands as she hurried off stage. Draped with a towel, she fled the theater without comment only minutes later.

This week’s Sunday Mirror first reported that Law, 32, and Daisy Wright, a 26-year-old au pair, had a steamy affair in March while Law was filming All the King's Men in New Orleans. In an eye-opening statement that followed the story, Law expressed his "sincere regret" over the relationship, saying: "I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us. …There is no defense for my actions, which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time."

Click here for a story on the diary of the affair that the nanny kept. Oh, and here's a pic of her:

Third Wedding for Pam and Tommy?

Pamela Anderson is hoping her third wedding with Tommy Lee will be the charm.

Lee — who has already walked down the aisle twice with Anderson — popped the question again on Friday at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, a spy reports. "He got her a black diamond with two gray diamonds on the side. After she said yes, they flew on the Palm's private jet back to L.A. — but they crossed out the 'l' on the side of the jet so it said 'Pam's.' "

The couple then shacked up at the Mondrian for the weekend and told pals the wedding would happen "this week."

Owen Likes the Coeds

Is Owen Robbing the Cradle?

Owen Wilson celebrated his "Wedding Crashers" success on Saturday by being the guest of honor at Mercedes Benz Polo in Bridgehampton, N.Y., with Woody Harrelson.

But more interesting about the polo matches was a young lady who turned up as a guest. 20-year-old Nicole Shabtai is the daughter of Benny Shabtai, the president and marketing genius behind watch makers Raymond Weil. Shabtai is a longtime fixture on the Hamptons party scene. Nicole is a sophomore at Duke University, but she's also said to be — if not Wilson's official girlfriend — one of his favorite coeds.

Wilson is 36 years old. The age difference is not exactly Jerry Seinfeld and Shoshanna Lonstein or Woody Allen and Soon Yi, but it did have Duke students in a tizzy when Wilson showed up on the North Carolina campus to see the beautiful brunette.

An ET Sequel?

Drew Barrymore and director Steven Spielberg are in talks to make a sequel to Hollywood classic ET.

Barrymore is anxious to resume her role as Gertie Elliot, but only if Spielberg, who directed the first film, agrees to oversee the project. Barrymore was six-years-old when ET: The Extraterrestrial shot her to fame in 1982.

According to reports the sequel will see ET return to a now grown-up Gertie, desperate for help saving his family from extinction. "Drew has spoken to Steven about it," a Hollywood insider said. "Although he thought she was joking at first, he's actually giving it serious thought." "Drew thinks the world needs another feelgood movie like ET right now and she's prepared to work with Steven to make it happen."

Biel Wants To Be Taken Seriously

Jessica Biel is convinced her new role in period romance The Illusionist will stop her becoming typecast.

The actress had been concerned her parts in Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Rules Of Attraction would deter film-makers from offering her more challenging roles - but he latest project has allayed her fears.

Biel says of her role as Princess Sophie, "I couldn't have asked for better, because you can get pigeon-holed. You do action and horror and they're great, but it was nice to do something like The Illusionist and be taken seriously - not just be the hot American girl."

Colin Sues Ex-Girlfriend

Colin Farrell slapped his Playmate former gal pal with a lawsuit to try to block her from peddling their raunchy sex tape yesterday.

Nicole Narain and the Irish actor filmed some steamy sexcapades for a 15-minute video more than two years ago — "solely for their private use and enjoyment," Farrell's suit claims. But now, Narain has allegedly joined forces with two men to sell the footage.

One of the men, Paul Nash, told The Post he has yet to see the tape and denied trying to sell it, at least for now. "If it's deemed legal, sure, we'd be interested in making a purchase," said the bizman, who distributes celeb footage.

Fergie Owes Justin

Black Eyed Peas star Fergie credits former lover Justin Timberlake with triggering her international success - and insists they remain the very best of friends.

The singer, who briefly dated the pop hunk, believes Timberlake's vocals on breakthrough single Where Is The Love? gave the band a new commercial edge and helped them realize their true potential.

She says, "I don't take credit for that, Where Is The Love hit a button with people and it had Justin Timberlake on it who was just getting really huge. I was more the icing on the cake. "It is a bit weird but he's a doll, a real doll. A really good guy. I had a lot of fun with him. Actually, working with him is great. Swank, Costner Narrate 9/11 Movie

Hilary Swank and Kevin Costner will narrate the upcoming film "On Native Soil: The Documentary of the 9/11 Commission Report."

The actors will share voice-over duties for the feature-length film on the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, directed by former NBC News producer Linda Ellman.

"I was in lower Manhattan that horrible day" when the World Trade Center collapsed, Swank said in a statement Friday. "I was drawn to the project by the amazing stories of the 9/11 families and survivors featured in the film, and I am proud that by contributing my voice to the project, I can help their voices to be heard."

"On Native Soil" will tell five stories of survival and examine the 9/11 Commission's final recommendations. The film features interviews with people such as the victims' families, Sen. John McCain, a former FBI counterterrorism official and the former head of the CIA's Osama bin-Laden desk.

Jude and the Nanny

The British nanny who claims she enjoyed an affair with heart-throb actor Jude Law insists the Alfie star phoned her last week in a bid to rekindle their romance.

Law, who is engaged to screen beauty Sienna Miller, allegedly seduced 26-year-old Daisy Wright while he was filming movie All The King's Men in America earlier this year. Wright insists she enjoyed a month-long fling with the 32-year-old until she was sacked by Law's ex-wife Sadie Frost, after one of their children spoke out about catching the lovers in bed.

She alleges Law called her last week in a bid to rekindle their steamy relationship - but Wright still felt hurt by her dismissal from the job she loved and turned down his advances. Wright tells British newspaper The Sun, "Jude really swept me off my feet. I fell for him. Now I realize he was just using me for sex. I was really shocked when he phoned me last Thursday and said he wanted to see me again. I told him I thought it was unfair that I had ended up losing my job over it. He said Sadie was in charge of childcare arrangements... He was begging to see me again. He said he desperately needed to show me that our relationship wasn't just about sex. But how could I trust him again after he cast me aside so easily before."

Wedding Bells

Wedding Bells:

--Sandra Bullock wed her tattooed beau Jesse James, the star of the Discovery Channel series Monster Garage, on Saturday at a ranch north of Santa Barbara.

Guests at the wedding confirm the pair were married at the 300-acre Folded Hills Ranch in Solvang, Calif. Bullock wore a white lace dress. "She looked beautiful," one guest said. "She was incredibly happy."

The pair arrived in a giant red monster truck, with James driving. Guests, meanwhile, were shuttled to the ceremony from hotels in Santa Barbara 45 minutes away. Invitations to the nuptials suggested a "hoedown" theme, and a country-western band played for those in attendance.

Bullock, who turns 41 on July 26, and James, 36, have been dating for more than a year, after meeting when she took her young godson on a tour of the Monster Garage set in Long Beach, Calif.

Eminem to Retire?

Eminem is considering putting an end to his public career in September, the Daily Star claims. The rap star apparently wants to retire after his world tour ends in Dublin in the autumn.

"Em has definitely gotten to the level where he feels like he's accomplished everything he can accomplish in rap," his D-12 bandmate Proof told the newspaper. "He wants to kick back and get into the producing thing. Why not bow out when you're on top?"

Jeff Bass, co-writer of "Lose Yourself," explained, "The Eminem part of his career isn't going to be at the forefront any more. As much as he caters to his fans, this has always been about putting food on the table. And he knows the right thing to do to make sure that happens. "If that’s moving into producing 50 Cent and the other artists he's handling, then that's what it is. He's a smart guy. He knows what he's doing."

A friend added, "He feels like he's said everything he can say as Eminem. The idea that he intended this to be his last record is something that everyone on the inside circle has known for a while."

Owen The Troublemaker

"Wedding Crashers" star Owen Wilson was always a troublemaker. He was tossed out of the Dallas high school that graduated Tommy Lee Jones and rockers Steve Miller and Boz Scaggs.

"I got kicked out of St. Mark's High School for a bunch of Tom Sawyer pranks," he told Webster Hall curator Baird Jones. "I was caught wearing white socks, which was against the uniform rules," Wilson says. "I claimed I had athlete's foot. I also stole the geometry teacher's book, which had all the correct answers [to a test] in it. And I gave it out to all my classmates so everyone got A's." Wilson says his antics got him "sent off to a strict military school in New Mexico — which was a nightmare."

He says of St. Mark's, "I'd love to go back just to give a speech and show off," but doubts he'll get the invitation "because there's been so many other famous alumni there."

Rod Found God

Rod Stewart's wife, model Penny Lancaster - who is four months pregnant - claims the Rod's life has changed since finding God.

She told Hello! magazine that a turning point came when he agonized over whether to propose to her and whether they should have a child. And she said that the September 11 attacks in New York had a profound effect on Stewart's religious attitudes.

"After the tragedy we began going to church a lot," Penny told the magazine. "Wherever we were on tour, if there was a church and the door was open, we'd go in and have a prayer. "One thing I would pray about was to ask that Rod would see the light and realize that I was true and real. "What I didn't realize was that Rod was praying for just the same things. "It has drawn a strong, spiritual bond between us."

She added that the 60-year-old rocker had received a sign that she was the person he should marry. The couple are due to wed next summer, possibly in the South of France, where they are buying a house. Rod, who reportedly wants a girl, will take a year off to spend time with his fiancee and new child. He made the vow after his son Sean 24, blamed his former drug addiction on "the curse" of being Rod's son.

Usher Opens Summer Camp

Usher, who began singing at age 6, has opened a summer camp to help some other prodigies-in-training.

Usher Raymond, the 26-year-old R&B star, dropped by for the first day of Camp New Look, an Atlanta program he recently started for minority youth in his home city. 150 campers aged 8 to 18 hole up at Clark Atlanta University for two weeks, honoring their specialties - either singing, dancing, or basketball - and learning about the respective industries.

"This is truly about learning the business side," Usher said Monday. "You're not going to learn it all overnight, but maybe, just maybe, you'll learn enough to change your life."

The children also sit in on panels and discussion sessions with agents, managers and sports executives to learn the financial side of entertainment and sports. Guest teachers will include Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony and Atlanta Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall. Their lessons will be put to the test July 23, when they are expected to coordinate a charity celebrity basketball game and headline the halftime show.

The camp, Usher said, will be the first of many summers where kids are pushed to aim higher than just playing for a basketball team, but owning one. The singer is co-owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers.

--I think this sounds very cool.

Another Sex Tape Scandal?

Colin Farrell Sex Tape Scandal?

A man who identified himself only as J.J. called Page Six a few days ago for advice on selling what he says is an authentic, 14-minute sex tape, but admitted he didn't have model releases from either "Alexander" star Colin Farrell or the Playboy Playmate who briefly dated him two years ago.

J.J. described the steamy tape in graphic detail, starting with a naked Nicole Narain in her living room turning on some music, and ending with Farrell pointing the camera at her white cat in the corner of the room and saying, "Baby, you have the most beautiful [kitty]."

In between, Narain, who was Miss January in 2002, displays her pierced tongue as she looks up at the camera and winks. And Farrell, who had a shaved head for his role in "Daredevil," reciprocates, saying, "I could do this breakfast, lunch and dinner." Narain, who has a tattoo on her backside, also goes through a couple of sexual positions described in the Kama Sutra, starting with "the missionary."

"The sellers are supposedly looking for a seven-figure upfront fee to hand over the tape for release by a distributor," Defamer.com reported Wednesday. "Even if someone was willing to pony up the money . . . they couldn't release it without Farrell's permission."

Federline Can't Lay off Booze and Smokes

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline had an argument at the premiere of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', it has been claimed.

The pregnant singer and her husband arrived at the Hollywood premiere of the children's film, starring Johnny Depp, smiling and looking happy. However, sources claim Britney - who wore a blue shirt with the words "I have the golden ticket" and an arrow pointing to her swollen baby bump - was later seen blasting Kevin at the premiere party over his excessive drinking and smoking. According to reports, the 23-year-old mother-to-be - who is rumored to be expecting twins - was furious with her husband for smoking around her while she is pregnant.

A source said: "Britney told Kevin to avoid the alcohol at the party and to lay off the cigarettes. "Kevin had a few glasses of champagne and a smoke and she just hit the roof calling him selfish."

Interesting In-Laws for Hilton

Paris Hilton’s fiancé has a family with a colorful past.

Paris Latsis changed his last name from Kasidokostas and took on his mother’s maiden name — reportedly to evoke the fabulous shipping fortune from that side of his family. But some people are wondering whether that was a wise move socially. Latsis’ maternal grandfather, shipping tycoon John Latsis, who died in 2003, was a notorious figure abroad and has been called a Nazi collaborator and a black marketeer.

Latsis was accused of profiteering during World War II and stood trial for collaborating with the Nazis. He was acquitted, but faced further criticism for his close friendship with Colonel Georgios Papadopoulos, leader of the fascist junta which seized power in Greece in 1967. A biography published in Athens in 1991 was bluntly titled: "John Latsis: Gangster."

In certain social circles, associating with Latsis simply was not done. Prince Charles was scolded by the UK press when he accepted a ride aboard John Latsis’ yacht in 1999. “This unpleasant Greek isn't offering such largesse to Prince Charles out of kindly benevolence,” chided London’s Daily Mail. “He’s doing it because he likes to boast that the future King of England is a friend. . . . But the trip has sickened many of us.”

Nicole, the Writer

Nicole Richie is adding novelist to her resume after penning a new book loosely based on her high life.

Rock + Royalty is the tale of society princess Chloe Parker. Richie, the daughter of soul legend Lionel Richie, admits she didn't have to do too much research for the project: "I would think about things that I have experienced and just twist it down and make them more exciting or a little less exciting."

A dark chapter of the book deals with Richie's past as a drug addict.

She adds, "I think sometimes when people think of the word drug addict they think the word dirty, under a bridge, like, really rock bottom. You don't have to be that person to be an addict."

Pitt Has Meningitis

Brad Pitt, who entered the hospital Monday night with what was described as a "flu-like illness," was discharged from L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon after being diagnosed with a mild case of viral meningitis, his publicist announced.

"The actor is at home and doing well," publicist Cindy Guagenti says in a statement.

Viral meningitis – generally regarded as serious but rarely fatal in persons with normal immune systems – involves inflammation of the tissues covering the brain and spinal cord. Most patients recover from viral meningitis in a week, with severe illness and death uncommon, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Perhaps this will make him feel better:Angelina Jolie was spotted spending more than $1500 on undies and other items at the upscale London erotic emporium, Coco De Mer.

The London Mirror reports that the sultry actress frequents the lingerie and toy store and has been spied flipping through books on sexual positions and playing with feather ticklers and blindfolds. "Angelina's not embarrassed by anything at the shop - she loves it all and buys quite a lot. She's in here whenever she's in the country. But her most recent trip a few weeks ago was the most she has ever spent. Brad's one lucky guy," said a source.

"Angelina bought sexy, lacy underwear and sex books. She loves looking through the new underwear. There are all sorts there: panties, G-strings, half-cup bras which are all incredibly erotic. She likes them all," said the tattler. "She also loves anything that's made of leather and they sell lots of basques and bras made out of black leather."

Not So Happy Birthday

The New York Daily News reports that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey behaved like perfect strangers at a private 25th-birthday party for Jessica at her parents home in Los Angeles over the weekend.

"Nick and Jessica weren't even speaking," said a tattler. "In fact, they didn't even arrive together - he met her there. Then, when she was blowing out the candles on her cake, he was in the back with his friends, like he didn't care."

The source hinted that the sour mood may have been due to Tina and Joe Simpson's lack of party-planning skills. "It was a really lame party," says the tattler. "Everyone was bored and left early. There was hardly any alcohol - they nearly ran out. They're really bad at planning a party."

No Parisian Love for Cruise

Some Parisians think that Tom Cruise is a sect symbol.

The “War of the Worlds” star got engaged to Katie Holmes in the French capital, but now the city’s leaders have voted not to make Cruise an honorary citizen because of his membership in the controversial Church of Scientology.

In a debate this week, Paris’s City Hall pledged “never to welcome the actor Tom Cruise, spokesman for Scientology and self-declared militant for this organization,” according to Agence France Presse.

Cruise had been made an honorary citizen of Marseille, but his religion is considered a cult by many French authorities, and one deputy there called the star a “sect symbol.”

Haylie's Next Role

Haylie Duff (Hilary's sister) will be injecting a bit of spice into the WB's family-oriented drama "7th Heaven" as she comes onboard as a pregnant college student for the show's 10th season.

"I come into the show as Simon [David Gallagher]'s girlfriend's friend from college. She's like a total random girl that enters the family and basically needs their help," Duff said backstage at a Candie's event celebrating Hilary's new endorsement deal on Monday. "I actually start work on the show tomorrow, so I'm really excited about it."

The 20-year-old, who wrapped filming on the heiress-themed flick "Material Girls" with Hilary in May can't wait to sink her teeth into her first major television role. "It's cool because she's such a strong character. I am pregnant on the show, which is kind of crazy, and it's a big stretch for me, but I feel so lucky to be able to work with a cast on a show that is so well put together," she said.

Depp Wants Girlfriend To Propose To Him

Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp is desperate to marry his long-term love Vanessa Paradis - but he's waiting for her to make the all-important move.

The 41-year-old Finding Neverland actor admits the pair, who have been together for seven years and have two children Lily-Rose, 6 , Jack, 3, are already as good as husband and wife, but insists the proposal has to come from her.

He says, "For all intents and purposes we are married. We have two kids together and she is the woman in my life." "But if she ever said: 'Hey, let's get hitched,' I would do it in a second." "We'll do it if the kids want us to, or maybe when the kids are old enough to enjoy it with us."

But Depp has reservations about heading up the aisle with his girlfriend, because he'd hate to ruin her maiden name. He says, "It would be a shame to ruin her last name! It's so perfect - Vanessa Paradis. So beautiful." "It would be such a drag to stick her with Paradis-Depp. It's like a flat note."

Good Thing Celine Makes Fat Cash

Celine Dion's husband, René Angélil, has been seriously gambling, and he's losing.

In Las Vegas yesterday, there were 50 players left on Day 5 of the World Series of Poker at the Rio Casino, but the real action has been at the Bellagio's high-roller room, where Angélil and local pros are regulars at the highest-stakes tables in town. Over recent nights Angélil dumped about $350,000 to pros Jennifer Harmon and Johnny Chan, famous for his cameo in the movie "Rounders."

"Whenever René leaves for dinner, the table breaks up — he's dead money, but he's getting better," one pro said.

Cooter Says, "Stay Away!"

If television's "Crazy Cooter" has his way, fans of the "Dukes of Hazzard" may be speeding away from a new movie version of the cornpone classic faster than the Duke boys running from Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane.

Ben Jones, a former Georgia congressman who played the wisecracking mechanic on the popular series from 1979-85, said profanity and sexual content in the film make a mockery of the family friendly show. "Basically, they trashed our show," said Jones, who now lives in the mountains of Washington, Va. "It's one thing to do whatever movie they want to do, but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking "I Love Lucy" and making her a crackhead or something."

Jones said he read a script of the movie, which is scheduled to be released next month, and that it contained profanity, "constant sexual innuendo and some very clear sexual situations."

On Wednesday, Jones wrote an open letter to fans on his web site, cootersplace.com, urging them to stay away. "From all I have seen and heard, the "Dukes" movie is a sleazy insult to all of us who have cared about the "Dukes of Hazzard" for so long ... ," Jones wrote. "Unless they clean it up before the August 5th release date I would strongly recommend that true blue Dukes fans hold their noses and pass this one up."

Reason Behind the Sling

Rumor Correction:

Christina Aguilera is on the mend after slicing two tendons in her hand, her rep says. Aguilera's publicist, Jill Fritzo, says the 24-year-old pop star cut her hand on a piece of glass at her Los Angeles-area home. Her arm will remain in a cast for a few weeks in order for her injuries to heal correctly. "It is uncomfortable and she has it in a sling to rest it," says Fritzo.

The rep provided no further details about the incident, but it counters tabloid reports earlier in the week claiming the singer's injuries came after a scuffle with an drunken and over-eager fan in a Paris nightclub. Fritzo says the tabloid reports actually came from a two-year-old story that had been mixed up with Aguilera's current injury, which "had nothing to do with a fan."

"When I say it I say it with the sincerity of my heart and also with my grandmother who passed right after I graduated from high school." "She was the only person in my life at that time who ever believed I'd be anything." "I'm looking forward to a more positive and productive future."

Like Mother Like Daughter

Kelly Osbourne has revealed that when the time comes, she will be "sucked and tucked".

The 21-year-old has recently come out of rehab after depression following unkind comments about her body. Kelly went into therapy after jibes about her figure finally got to her, as her mom Sharon confirmed: "Essentially, Kelly had a breakdown because of her weight. They've always made fun of the way she looked. But this time, it was worse, and she could take it no more."

But now out of rehab, Kelly is determined to love her body, even if that means she has to indulge in a bit of surgery, according to Closer magazine. "I don't think anyone is completely happy with the way they look," she said. "But I don't hate myself."

Mariah's Wardrobe Malfunction

Mariah Carey accidentallyflashed her breasts at stunned fans during a TV show in Germany when her dress fell apart.

Carey, who experienced a moment reminiscent of Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" last year, was saved from further shame when floor managers cut the lights to allow the singer to recover her dignity - and clothes - in obscurity, according to Mtv news.

But the red-faced superstar saw the funny side, quipping, "Someone bring me a jacket or the show's off, we all know how quickly these images can spread around the world."

Carey dashed backstage in the dark clutching her clothes in place before reappearing looking perfect, and bravely continuing with the show.

Trapped in the Closet, Parts 6-10

Because parts 1-5 just weren't enough...

Over the weekend, R. Kelly began shooting videos for "Trapped in the Closet" chapters six through 10, which all continue a central story. Production is said to be wrapping this week, and as with the predecessors, Kelly is co-directing.

Although his reps haven't disclosed much about the songs or videos, his record company said they take up right where chapter five ended and will keep fans guessing about what'll happen next.

--I can't wait. These videos are freaking hysterical.

Paris and Nicole Teaming Up?

It could be a reunion – if not a reconciliation – for Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. The estranged best friends may team up for a fourth installment of their Fox reality show The Simple Life, whether they like it or not.

The network has picked up the option on the pair's existing contracts for a fourth season of The Simple Life, according to sources close to the deal.

Planning is still in the early stages, but among the ideas being discussed internally in production would be to follow both Hilton and Richie as they prepare for their respective upcoming weddings and their subsequent lives as married women. (Hilton, 24, is engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, and Richie, 23, to deejay Adam Goldstein, who goes by the name DJ AM.)

Another possibility would be to shoot their reconciliation, should such a thing actually happen. But the main parties involved are nowhere near a final decision and have not discussed a start date.

TomKat News

TomKat News:

--Tom Cruise started shooting scenes for "Mission: Impossible 3" in Rome on Tuesday by whizzing past the camera in a speedboat. Fans looked on from a bridge over the river Tiber as the star sped under them to film the third installment in the action-adventure series. All traffic was barred from the historic waterway for the day.

Before stepping into the speedboat, Cruise kissed and embraced actress Katie Holmes on the riverside set.

(Right, because I'm sure groping her helped him get into character).

--Could Keri Russell be the latest starlet to sign up for an Scientology? Radarlonline reports that the Felicity alumna, who recently won the coveted role of starring opposite Tom Cruise in M:I3, has been spotted buying books on Scientology, the controversial religion founded by Science Fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, and has even visited the sect's L.A. Celebrity Center.

Sources told the magazine that Russell, who was once a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, has "suddenly become very interested" in co-star Tom Cruise's other "mission," spreading the word on Scientology. Russell's publicist said she is "on hiatus" while her client is filming in Rome and could not comment on the item.

(For the love of God, someone save Felicity!)

Davis and Barton Are No More

The O.C. star Mischa Barton and Brandon Davis, her boyfriend of more than a year, have split.

"They are no longer together but they remain close friends," Barton's publicist, Craig Schneider, said. No third party was involved, Schneider adds. While Barton's rep would not provide additional details about the split, a source close to the 19-year-old actress says, "It developed over the last week."

Barton began dating Davis, the twentysomething grandson of billionaire Marvin Davis, after the two were introduced at a charity event in February 2004.

After filming the Italian-set feature Decameron: Angels & Virgins in Europe recently (opposite Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen), Barton is now back at work on the set of The O.C.

--Eh, you knew that wasn't going to last. He seemed like dead weight.

Pitt's Got the Flu

Brad Pitt has checked in to a Los Angeles-area hospital with a flu-like illness, his publicist, Cindy Guagenti, said Tuesday.

The 41-year-old star, freshly back from last week's trip to Ethiopia (where he reportedly assisted Angelina Jolie in picking up a 2-year-old girl she was adopting), checked himself in on Monday night, according to Guagenti, who adds that the hospital name is being kept under wraps for security reasons.

She said she was not aware if Pitt might have contracted the illness while in Africa. "I think he has the flu," Guagenti tells the Associated Press

MovieNews

MovieNews:

--Salma Hayek is reportedly being lined up to join the cast of Sin City 2.

Director Robert Rodriguez said: "I always consider Salma for my projects, even for male roles. "But yes, there is a character that suits her in this new movie."

--A follow up to Oscar-winning blockbuster Gladiator is being planned - without Russell Crowe, who was killed off in the original movie. Crowe, who played General Maximus Decimus Meridius and Joaquin Phoenix's character Emperor Commodus both died in the first movie.

But Djimon Hounsou, who starred as African slave Juba, survived and insists the sequel is in development. He says there is "definitely the desire to do a sequel. They're not happy about what they have for now, so they're still working on it." And the 41-year-old actor is convinced he will grab more of the limelight this time round, adding, "I would probably be in the center of it as one of the leads."

--Emilio Estivez has signed on to appear in a sequel to cult Brat Pack movie The Breakfast Club, despite missing out on joining his castmates for a MTV Movie Awards reunion last month.

The actor failed to show up for the 20th anniversary get together, but insists he did have every intention of being there until a family emergency forced him to pull out. He says, "It didn't work out but I love that movie. I wouldn't deliberately avoid such a situation, it's just that family called that night - and my kids always come first. "I felt truly honored to be involved in the movie. It's amazing the legacy it's had."

He adds, "John's got an idea for a sequel - mature aged students at college, all doing time again - for some reason or another. "The twist would be that we're all the polar opposites of how we were in the original. Judd, for instance, would now be the straight-laced one. I'm definitely in. If it happens, I'm there."

--Stop with the sequels already! Leave well-enough alone! A Gladiator movie without Crowe? Are you joking me?

Missy On Being Single

Hip-hop star Missy Elliott cites her mother's independence following her divorce as the reason she is single. The rapper, who has been without a partner for a long time, witnessed her mom become a stronger person after she separated from her dad.

Missy says, "She was so dependent on my father and felt she could do nothing without him." "But when she got up and left she was stronger than ever before. I learned from that." "I think I'm happiest by myself. I know that's crazy - people don't want to die alone. But most of my friends are in relationships and they're miserable. They call me on the phone, like, 'He did this!' 'She did that!' I'm like, 'Wow, is anybody happy?'"

Spice Single

The Spice Girls are working on a new single in different studios across the world following a string of rows.

According to The Sun, Mel C and Emma B are both in London, Geri is in the South of France, Victoria is in Madrid and Mel B can be found in Los Angeles.

All five Spices are recording vocals for a new track which will be released to mark ten years since their hit debut single 'Wannabe' hit the number one spot in the charts.

A source told the newspaper: "The girls are in different countries and couldn't agree on a place to meet. "There's tension after Mel B refused to make a comeback for Live 8. So they agreed to get on with recording separately. They plan a greatest hits album next year and a couple of new songs would help sales.

They added: "It's early stages. The girls won't release anything if it doesn't sound right - but they are hoping for the best."

Becks Is a Gay Icon

It has long been known that David Beckham's good looks and style have made him a gay icon. But his latest fan is a man you'd expect to be learning Shakespeare lines rather than appreciating the beauty of the English football captain.

Sir Ian McKellen - who played Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy - met Becks backstage at Live 8 and was full of praise for him. "David Beckham is a beautiful man. He's got a nice smile. I spoke to him at a party. He's a gay icon and I know he likes it," the openly gay actor said.

A source told The Sun that David is thrilled by his big gay following. "David was really flattered when Ian told him how popular he is. "David's a big Lord Of The Rings fan so it meant a lot to him. Ian thought David was absolutely charming," the source revealed.

Surgery For Lansbury

Actress Angela Lansbury will undergo knee replacement surgery Thursday, her daughter said Tuesday. "Her knee is so painful from years of dancing," said Deirdre Battarra, 52.

Lansbury, who rose to fame on Broadway and starred in television show "Murder, She Wrote," tripped over an electrical cord Friday night while joining celebrities onstage for Stephen Sondheim's 75th-birthday concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

But the slip had nothing to do with Lansbury's surgery plans, said Battarra, who expects her 79-year-old mother to take one or two months to recover.

--That one's for you, Dad. ;)

Kelly Kapowski Weds

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 mean girl Tiffani Thiessen married actor-artist Brady Smith on Saturday at a private estate in Montecito, Calif., her rep confirms.

The bride, 31, wearing a French lace and tulle dress designed by Vera Wang, and the groom, 33, in a suit by Kenneth Cole, were surrounded by close friends and family as their daytime garden wedding turned into a French Provencal feast by evening.

Thiessen, who originally hails from Long Beach, Calif., and Smith, a Houston native, danced until late into the night and wrapped up the reception with a Perrier Jouet Champagne toast before heading to Santa Barbara's Hotel Andalucia for their first evening as husband and wife.

A one-time model, Thiessen spent her teen years playing cheerleader Kelly Kapowski on NBC's Saved by the Bell, which was followed by a few seasons as Valerie Malone on FOX's 90210 and a lead role on the network's short-lived 2002 series Fastlane. Her movies include 1993's Son in Law and Woody Allen's Hollywood Ending (2002).

BritNews

Some BritNews for you:

--Mother-to-be Britney Spears has complained about the range of maternity lines available. According to BreakingNews, the singer is said to be frustrated by the current range of pregnancy attire.

She commented: "There's so much nasty stuff out there for mums-to-be, I can't work out why stores don't sell funkier stuff. I have ideas about more modern designs and it would be fun to utilize them."

--Britney Spears has made a $50,000 donation to Gilda's Club Worldwide, whose network of free cancer support communities throughout North America helps patients with the disease, the organization has announced.

"When children have cancer, or when their parents or siblings have the disease, there are few places they can turn to for support," Spears – whose first child with husband Kevin Federline is due later this year – says in a statement.

"Gilda's Club is one of those places. I passionately believe in helping children in need, and so I am very happy to make this gift to help children learn they can cope with what can be a terrible and devastating experience for them," adds Spears, 23.

Owen Wants An Oscar

Hollywood star Owen Wilson is desperate to win an Oscar, insisting it would make him the "happiest person in the world".

The Wedding Crashers actor admits the coveted award is his driving force, unlike many celebrities who maintain the accolade is not important to their careers.

He enthuses, "I'd be the happiest person in the world. Even as I'm saying it, I can see how happy I'd be." "And I still believe it. Even as I'm telling you and realising this stuff doesn't make you happy, as I'm getting lost in it, it's becoming this grotesque conceit." "It's like that carrot, it just keeps you going."

Sunset Boulevard Casting

Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman have been signed up to appear in a big screen version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Sunset Boulevard.

Glenn Close will reprise her role as Norma Desmond in the film. Close won several awards for her portrayal of Desmond on Broadway.

The musical is based on the 1950 film starring Gloria Swanson and William Holden.

The film is expected to be released next Christmas.

--I am really excited for the release of this film. This is by far one of my favorite musicals. If Ewan has the lead role of Joe Gillis though, I'm just not feeling it. He doesn't put forth enough masculinity for that role, in my opinion. If she can sing, I think Rachel McAdams would be a great Betty Shaefer.

Minogue's Good Deed

Kylie Minogue made an impromptu visit to visit children suffering from cancer at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia on Friday.

The singer, 37, lavished time and affection on the ailing youngsters in her first public appearance since her own breast cancer operation in May.

Hospital spokeswoman Kate Dunston, says, "She spent a lot of time with the children individually and really connected with them." "She had her dad (Ron) with her and a couple of assistants. They all seemed to be very concerned for her."

The recovering singer intended to visit the kids' hospital when she was fully back to health, but since hearing about the terrorist attacks in London on Thursday she brought her plans forward. An aide says, "Kylie saw what was going on on the TV and decided she wanted to get up and do something positive." "She decided the time was right yesterday and rang the charities she is involved with. The children weren't told she was coming. Their faces lit up."

Doc Baker Dies

Veteran television character actor Kevin Hagen, who left behind a string of Western bad guy roles to become the kindly Dr. Hiram Baker in "Little House on the Prairie," has died. He was 77.

Hagen died at his home here on Saturday a year after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, his wife, Jan Hagen, said Monday.

Born in Chicago, the son of professional ballroom dancers, Hagen did not start acting until he was 27, by which time he had worked for the U.S. State Department in Germany, earned a degree in international relations from the University of Southern California, and served in the Navy following World War II, his wife said.

After a year of law school at UCLA, Hagen decided to drop out, and try his hand at acting. "I just found it absolutely became part of me," Hagen said of acting in a 2004 interview with the Grants Pass Daily Courier. "It was something I couldn't walk away from. Do it or die."

--Um, did you know there is an entire Doc Baker website? Wow.

Too Old To Party?

Party girl Kimberly Stewart has claimed she no longer has time for her notorious red carpet antics because of work pressures. The 25-year-old daughter of rocker Rod Stewart complained her new modelling career leaves her with no time to party.

She said: "I just don't have time to go out the way I used to when I was 16."

Kimberly recently revealed she is heading to Australia to pursue her modeling career. She is planning to quit her base in Los Angeles and move to Sydney, according to The Mail on Sunday. Willie's One Toke Over the Line

Willie Nelson is so "prolific" that sometimes even he forgets he has another record coming out. At a recent show here with Bob Dylan, Nelson performed a long list of hits, but not a single song from his new long-awaited reggae album.

"I keep forgetting," Nelson said a few days later by telephone from the road, which he's called home for most of the last 30 years. "The set is so short."

Nelson is indeed releasing a new reggae album, "Countryman," out Tuesday, and, at least sporadically, he's been working some of the songs into his shows.

Produced by Don Was, who's worked with the Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt among others, the album includes reggae versions of Nelson songs such as "Darkness On the Face of the Earth" and "One in a Row." There also are covers of Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come" and "Sitting in Limbo," and a song called "I'm a Worried Man" by Johnny and June Carter Cash that Nelson recorded as a duet with Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals.

"When he (Cash) found out I was doing a reggae album, he said, 'Hey, I've got a reggae song that I wrote when I lived there,'" Nelson recalled. "Toots heard it and liked it."

While the music on "Countryman" might raise the eyebrows of country purists, so will the cover. With green marijuana leaves on a red and yellow background, the cover art makes the CD look like an oversized pack of rolling papers.

The marijuana imagery reflects Jamaican culture, where the herb is a leading cash crop and part of religious rites, but it also reflects Nelson's fondness for pot smoking. Universal Music Group Nashville is substituting palm trees for the marijuana leaves on CDs sold at the retail chain Wal-Mart, a huge outlet for country music that's also sensitive about lyrics and packaging. "They're covering all the bases," Nelson joked.

She Wasn't All That

Madonna was a disappointing girlfriend, according to ex-lover Dennis Rodman.

The cross-dressing basketball player, who dated Madonna for almost a year in the '90s, claims although the pop queen was "good" in bed, she didn't blow his mind.

He confessed: "I've had my share of sleeping with beautiful women Madonna was alright. It was back in 1994, we were together for about a year. "It was alright man, she wasn't all that".

And Dennis also had an opinion about her music: "I told her that I never liked her music, she sucks, and all this stuff like that," Rodman revealed.

TomKat Update

And here is Monday's TomKat update:

--Her nutjob Scientology chaperone speaks for her: Katie Holmes appears in the August issue of W magazine posing in a Commes des Garcons wedding dress and continuing to gush about her fiance. The couple, who went public with their relationship in April, haven't announced a date for their marriage.

"Tom and I will always be in our honeymoon phase," Holmes says in W, on newsstands July 22. In the interview, a theme emerges with many similar comments, including "Tom is the most incredible man in the world."

During the W interview, the actress wouldn't part from Jessica Rodriguez, who is described as her "Scientologist chaperone." Rodriguez's role in Holmes' life remains vague, though Rodriguez says they're "just best friends" since meeting around the time Holmes met Cruise.

"You adore him," Rodriguez told Holmes when the actress was at a loss for words to describe her love.

--Save the children: Tom Cruise is raising his and Nicole Kidman's children as Scientologists. According to the May issue of Source, a magazine endorsed by the Church of Scientology, Cruise's 12-year-old daughter, Isabella, has completed the "Basic Study Manual," an introductory level course in the sci-fi-based religion that's been embraced by a swarm of Hollywood celebrities.

Isabella and her 10-year-old brother, Connor, live with Cruise in Beverly Hills, where they're being home-schooled by his Scientologist sisters Cass and Marian, according to Cultnews.com.

If Isabella and Connor follow their famous father into the L. Ron Hubbard-invented ideology, it will be a victory for Cruise over his ex-wife. When Kidman and Cruise's marriage fizzled in 2001, many close to the couple blamed Scientology.

The thorny issue of whose faith their children would adopt was cited as a major factor in the split. Kidman is a devout Catholic, while "War of the Worlds" star Cruise has been one of Scientology's most outspoken proponents. But their divorce settlement reportedly stipulates that both parents would make joint decisions about their children's education and religious upbringing.

--And in news related to the sane few who have publicly stood up against Cruise and Scientology: Brooke Shields is returning to Broadway in September to play Roxie Hart in Chicago. Shields has previously starred as Rizzo in the Grease revival and as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.

Hudson Sees Dead People

Movie beauty Kate Hudson is thrilled she's inherited her mother Goldie Hawn's psychic abilities - because she loves talking to ghosts. The 26-year-old actress has developed a special relationship with dead people ever since Hawn took her to a real-life haunted house in London.

She tells movie magazine Empire, "I've seen ghosts and experienced mystical things. I've seen many ghosts. My mom is super into that stuff, we swap stories of our experiences all the time. I think I got my psychic abilities from her.

"One night I woke up and saw a beautiful woman in my bedroom. I was with an ex-boyfriend. I woke him up and said, 'Do you see what I'm seeing?' He said, 'No, what are you looking at?' I turned around and she was gone.

"Another time when I was young, I was in London with my mom, and we were staying in a house that was so crazy-haunted that she just packed us up and got us out of there."

Hmmm

Madonna says she wrote the Kabbalah-themed children's books "Mr. Peabody's Apples," "Yakov and the Seven Thieves" and her latest, "Lotsa de Casha" — but an inside source says otherwise.

"All of Madonna's books are written by the Kabbalah Center's official ghostwriter, Eitan Yardeni," we're told. "Eitan also writes all of Yehuda and Phillip Berg's books and the Kabbalah Books for the Center. Last summer, he flew to London to help Madonna write the last book, but she didn't really do anything."

9/11 Movie

Nearly four years after the collapse of the World Trade Center, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone will direct a film based on the story of two police officers who were trapped in the rubble on Sept. 11, 2001.

Nicolas Cage, who won a best-actor Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas," will star as Port Authority police Sgt. John McLoughlin. McLoughlin and fellow officer William J. Jimeno became trapped during rescue efforts after the collapse of the twin towers. Paramount Pictures said the movie is expected to be released next year.

"It's a work of collective passion, a serious meditation on what happened and carries within a compassion that heals," Stone said in a statement Friday. "It's an exploration of heroism in our country - but it's international at the same time in its humanity."

Paramount said the film also will focus on the officers' rescuers and their families. McLoughlin and Jimeno are said to be the last two men rescued.

Fashion Olympians

How Britain's fashion world reacted to the news that London will be the host of the 2012 Olympics:

"This is such great news," said Manolo Blahnik. "This will be absolutely an inspiration to me. There will no doubt be some Olympic boots in a future collection."

And Stella McCartney, whose Adidas collection is a best seller, is already planning her contribution, too. "I would love to get the team looking extrafine in our gear," she said. "My favourite events are the gymnastics and tri-athletics," said Julien Macdonald. "And my designs for the Games would be very glamorous."

This will be the first time the Games have been held in London since 1948 and the city will be the first to have hosted them three times. While TopShop said yesterday that it was already gearing up to handle extra shoppers with an expanded shop format that will be unveiled later in the year, Caroline Collis, founder of Browns Bride on Brook Street, says it will simply affect everything. "Retail, property, the economy – and people's spirits," she said. "I never really thought of myself as the patriotic sort, but London really deserved this."

Christina's Crazed Fan

The scoop on Christina's injury:

Christina Aguilera's right arm is in bandages after an altercation in a nightclub with a crazed fan.

The star has been advised to wear a sling, but the singer is not letting this stand in the way of her distinctive style - she sported a black bandage to match her sharp black suit at a recent Paris, France fashion show.

A source says, "Christina hurt her arm after a scuffle with a drunk fan at a nightclub. "It's nothing serious but her doctor told her she should wear a sling until it heals."

Very Different Sisters

Mariah Carey's troubled, HIV-positive sister has been arrested for prostitution — for a second time.

Suffolk County police said they picked up Alison Carey, 43, after she solicited an undercover cop at the West Shore Marina in Huntington, Long Island, on June 13. "She offered to engage in sexual conduct for $250 in cash," a police source said.

Explaining the long lag time between Carey's arrest and the public release of her family ties, another source said, "We don't ask for the family tree when someone is put under arrest for prostitution."

It was Alison's second prostitution arrest. She was previously busted in April at her Huntington home, police said. She pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined $200 on June 2. Eleven days later, she was back on the streets, police said. The new charge carries a maximum of three months in jail.

Alison Carey has been out of tune with her family for years. She has claimed in interviews that she started turning tricks as a teenager, and that her work paid for limos that took her younger sister to her early gigs. In the early 1990s, Alison was so broke and strung out that her mother got custody of the young woman's son. She gave birth to another boy, and spent years in welfare motels and sleeping in a car. But she later lost custody of that boy, too.

In 2000, she shopped a tell-all book about her life and her famous sister, whom she called a "vain and heartless multimillionaire." The book was never published, if it was written at all.

Aniston Collapses on Set

Actress Jennifer Aniston has collapsed on the set of her new movie The Break Up after complaining of nausea and severe headaches.

The former Friends star was officially diagnosed with heatstroke, after she fainted during filming in Chicago, Illinois. But sources on set insist the star passed out because she was overcome with emotion, after it was revealed her former husband Brad Pitt had fuelled rumors he's dating Angelina Jolie, by accompanying her to Ethiopia, where she adopted an orphaned baby girl.

Jolie and Pitt have repeatedly denied reports they are a couple since Pitt and Aniston ended their marriage in January, despite numerous photographs of the Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-stars holidaying with Jolie's son Maddox. An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "She's been walking around with a sad look on her face and has not been her usual self. While her collapse was blamed on heatstroke, everyone thinks it's more down to stress than anything else. She can't have escaped all the stories about Brad and Angelina and it looks like the situation has taken its toll on her."

New Business Venture for Pitt and Clooney

Brad Pitt and his pal George Clooney just inked a deal with nightclub owner Rande Gerber to build a new Las Vegas hotel and casino.

But while the stars don't have to put in a dime, they'll get a hefty slice of the proceeds. "George and Brad are not putting in any money, but they will be getting a percentage of the profits," our well-placed insider says. "Brad will design the hotel and be the face of it with George. After 'Ocean's Eleven,' this makes perfect sense and the three of them are very good friends."

Pitt and Gerber first started talking about the project two years ago and recently brought Clooney into the deal. Gerber, who used to have a partnership with Ian Schrager but now works with the W Hotels, is getting out of the bar business altogether after "realizing he can make so much more by owning the hotel outright," we're told. The deal will be formally announced in November and ground will be broken on the Strip in January. Pitt's rep confirmed he was doing "some sort of business with [Gerber]" but declined further comment, as did Clooney's rep.

Pop music duo Daryl Hall and John Oates have postponed upcoming shows because Hall has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Hall, 55, is recovering at his home in upstate New York and is expected to make a full recovery, publicist Jonathan Wolfson said Wednesday.

Lyme disease is caused by the bite of infected deer ticks and can cause arthritis, neurological problems and encephalitis, a potentially fatal brain inflammation. Early signs include a red bulls-eye rash that slowly expands and flulike symptoms.

Lenny, The Designer

Lenny Kravitz's love of all things retro is evident in everything from his style to his sound. Now, the rocker is showcasing it in his newest venture - a design firm.

"We started about two years ago," Kravitz told The Associated Press of the Miami-based Kravitz Design. "We were quiet at first, just doing some private homes, and then moved into doing a penthouse recording studio," the 41-year-old singer said of his two partners. "(Now) we're doing hotels. We've got three or four things on the table now."

"I love things that are rooted in classic styles," he told the AP in a recent interview. "You'll see quite a blend of furniture. You might see an art nouveau chair next to a chair from the '60s."

Civil Rights Leaders Honored

Oprah Winfrey and Paul Rusesabagina, whose heroism in the face of genocide inspired the movie "Hotel Rwanda," were announced Thursday as recipients of the National Civil Rights Museum's top honors.

The museum, built around the former Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, said Winfrey and Rusesabagina will receive its 2005 Freedom Awards.

Winfrey, who runs a media company that includes her television show, is being recognized for working to improve the lives of poor children in Africa and helping create a U.S. database of convicted child abusers. She will receive the museum's National Freedom Award in November. Past recipients include King's widow, Coretta Scott King, and former Presidents Clinton and Carter.

Rusesabagina will receive the International Freedom Award, which also has been given to Nelson Mandela and Bono.

The museum said a new Lifetime Achievement Award for civil rights activism will be given to actress Ruby Dee and her late husband, Ossie Davis.

Music History

Bill Haley was 30 in 1955, a family man with several children and a job as leader of a mildly popular band, the Comets. With his spit curl and paunch he looked like a salesman or, maybe, a disc jockey -- which, indeed, had been one of his previous jobs.

He'd had a couple major chart hits but didn't think much of rock 'n' roll; it was simply the hot thing at the time, something popular with the kids that got the dance halls jumping and paid the bills. Haley's background was in Western swing, a la one of his influences, Bob Wills.

So he may have been destined to be a musical footnote if it weren't for a movie, "Blackboard Jungle," and the song that blasted over the opening credits: "Rock Around the Clock."

Fifty years ago Saturday, "Rock Around the Clock" hit No. 1, a position it held for eight weeks on the Billboard charts. "Rock 'n' roll," an expansive term coined a couple years earlier by DJ Alan Freed, had now been to the pop mountaintop, a position it would never quite relinquish.

Within six months, a trickle of rock 'n' roll hits -- by artists such as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Carl Perkins -- would become a flood as the king of them all, Elvis Presley, emerged with a hip-shaking frenzy and changed the course of pop music for good.

Vince and Jennifer Not an Item

Vince Vaughn has point blank denied he is having an affair with Jennifer Aniston.

The couple have been spotted together recently, but he has been overheard saying the old "we're just good friends" line, reports The Mirror. They became friends while filming their new movie The Break Up - and were seen getting close on a beach last month.

But the paper claims that at the world premiere of his latest movie Wedding Crashers, Vince told pals they are both very much single.

He said: "We're making a film together, man. "Jennifer's a sweet girl but she is very vulnerable right now and has been through a really hard time. "I know people would love it if we were dating, but we're not. "She doesn't need to cry on my shoulder."

A rep for the show said, "We don't follow guests to the bathroom." Meanwhile, some star-watchers were also concerned because Katie "looks like she hasn't slept in weeks."

Love Child, Love Child

Prince Albert II of Monaco acknowledges that he has an illegitimate child with a former flight attendant from Togo, his lawyer, Thierry Lacoste, confirmed in a statement Wednesday.

Lacoste says the 47-year-old Albert, who is unmarried and without an heir, desires to face up to his responsibilities. The lawyer added that the child, now 22 months old, would not be in line to inherit Albert's throne.

Following the April death of Albert's 81-year-old father, Prince Rainier III, stories emerged in the French press linking the younger prince to former Air France flight attendant Nicole Coste, who is Togolese and holds French citizenship. In interviews, Coste said she met Albert on a flight in 1997. This subsequently led to a relationship and the birth of the boy, Alexandre, in August 2003, she told Paris Match magazine. At the time, Coste said she went public with the tale because, "I want Alexandre to grow up normally with a father."

In making Albert's paternity announcement, Lacoste also took the press to task for breaking the story so soon after the elder Rainier's funeral. "Prince Albert II asks the press to adopt responsible behavior, similar to what it has adopted in similar circumstances for other public figures, and to respect his private life and that of the underage child," Lacoste’s statement concluded.

--I'm currently singing The Supremes' song in honor of this story. Although the "born in poverty" line doesn't really apply, now does it?

Sephora Picks Up Antin's Line

After watching the last season of Blow Out, Bravo's hit reality show—which chronicled the trials and tribulations of opening a second salon in Los Angeles—you'd think celebrity stylist Jonathan Antin could use a breather.

But season two began on June 7th, following the energetic hair guru as he creates Jonathan, his eponymous hair care line. "I created Jonathan so my clients could recreate the look they walk out of the salon with," says Antin. "It's important to me that they can call me a week later and say 'I love the cut, and my hair has never been so easy to style.'" Working with his team to find the purest ingredients available, the labels read like a veritable vitamin pill for the hair—the entire line is sodium laurel sulfate-free, and is also vegan. Packed with products that break the mold, like Dirt, a texturizer that makes hair behave like it's slightly dirty, Antin's new line is primed to be a smash hit—just like Blow Out, Part 2.

Antin's line has also recently been picked up by Sephora, so you too can purchase his products.

Jolie Adopts Again

Angelina Jolie is adopting her second child, a newborn Ethiopian baby orphaned by AIDS. "Her name is Zahara," Jolie said. Arrangements for the adoption are expected to be completed Wednesday.

The 30-year-old actress and U. N. activist says the girl's full name is Zahara Marley Jolie. Jolie won't divulge the child's age, weight or height, but she tells that she and Maddox, the 3-year-old son she adopted from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002, are "very happy to have a new addition to our family."

Jolie has often talked of adopting a second child. After a trip to Ethiopia earlier this year, Jolie said of Maddox: "My son is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."

Are They or Aren't They?

Nicole and DJ AM: On or Off?

Rumor has it that Nicole Richie has broken off her engagement to DJ fiancé Adam Goldstein, according to her pals. The stick-thin Simple Life star apparently scrapped her big day after the latest in a series of rows with her boyfriend over their wedding plans.

"Nicole's ideas for the wedding were getting more and more grand and the guest list was in the high hundreds whereas Adam's plan was to keep it simple, bordering on minimalist," says a friend of the couple. "They kept bickering about it then it all came to a head when Nicole started talking about flowers and Adam wondered if they even needed any. Nicole stormed out and said the wedding was off."

Richie recently said in an interview that she wanted "elephant rides and swans" at her wedding and poured scorn on her other half's less than ambitious ideas. But sources say the prospect of Nicole becoming Mrs. Goldstein is not completely lost. "They've had bust-ups like this before," adds the source. "But it's going to take Adam to back down and give Nicole what she wants before they kiss and make up."

Maybe he should spin for her to win her back: Nothing gets Nicole Richie's juices flowing like listening to DJ-AM, spin records. At the opening of Revolution nightclub in Fort Lauderdale last week, the rail-thin reality TV tart gushed to pals how "turned on" she gets when her hubby-to-be mans the wheels of steel.

"Kill Bill" director Quentin Tarantino, 42, and Shar Jackson, 28 — the mother of Britney Spears spouse Kevin Federline's two children — spent the holiday weekend together in Las Vegas.

On Saturday, they dined at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel, where they were "holding hands and acting like a couple," a source tells Us Weekly. After dinner, they caught comedy show Beacher's Madhouse and were "very touchy," says another witness. Then at 4 a.m., they ate pizza and pancakes with a group of people at the Rainbow Bar & Grill. Jackson told the magazine that she and Tarantino are just "friends" and were in Sin City celebrating her mother's birthday.

McChic?

McDonald's may be ordering up a designer makeover for all of its hamburger helpers, a news report said Tuesday.

According to industry publication AdAge.com, the world's largest fast-food company is interested in recruiting fashion moguls Russell Simmons, P. Diddy and Tommy Hilfiger, among others, to transform employees' mundane uniforms into hip street wear.

"We're looking at how do we make our uniforms more appealing, more desirable," Bill Lamar, chief marketing officer for McDonald's (Research) USA, was quoted in the report as saying. Lamar told the publication that the talks were "purely exploratory," although the report added that a massive and costly overhaul is in the works.

As the world's largest employer of high school and college students, the fashion makeover for the roughly 30,000 McDonald's employees affected could cost up to $80 million, the report said.

Ewan and Booze

Ewan McGregor has revealed that he had to battle with alcohol during his rise to fame.

The Scottish actor, best known for his breakthrough role in Trainspotting, told Playboy magazine that he knew he had to get a grip when he turned from a happy drunk to a miserable one.

"I was just ashamed of myself, really," he told the magazine. "None of my directors ever said, 'You know, I'd rather you didn't drink at work.' None of them. And they must have known. "I was reeking of (alcohol). Originally I was a happy drunk. But later I was miserable because it's a depressant."

The Star Wars actor went on to reveal that he doesn't keep acting for the money or the fame: "If you chase fame, you're just going to end up miserable and unhappy. I'm not interested in fame, because you'll never be famous enough. "You'll never wake up one day and go, 'I'm f**king famous, and I'm really happy.'

"It seems to me the more money people get paid, the lazier they become."

TomKat News

TomKat News:

--Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes continue to annoy everyone who crosses their path. Graffiti artist Miguel Paredes rented a room in the Essex House on the same floor as the suite occupied by Tom-Kat last week.

When Paredes stopped by his room before his art show "New York Stories" at the Agora Gallery, hotel security would not allow him inside his room until the couple left for the premiere of "War of the Worlds." Paredes, who rents the room for $16,000 a month, was nearly an hour late to his show due to the holdup.

--Also, Tom Cruise and fiancee Katie Holmes are planning a Scientology wedding which will take place next month.

The War Of The Worlds actor, who has been romancing the 26-year-old actress since April, is set to tie the knot at the Scientology headquarters in Los Angeles before honeymooning on a yacht with his soon-to-be third wife, according to British newspaper the Sunday Express.

A source at the religious centre says, "Tom has encouraged Katie to embrace our faith and they have both agreed to a Scientology wedding service." Another source explains, "It has become a prerequisite of Tom's that the closest people in his life should also be Scientologists.

"He was mortified when Nicole turned her back on his faith but he is overjoyed that Katie has embraced it."

Thank God

Britney Spears is NOT getting naked!

The pop tart has been in talks to do a magazine cover shoot during her pregnancy, but, despite rumors, it will not be in the now infamous "naked Demi Moore Vanity Fair pose."

Spears' rep confirmed that the pregnant singer would "be the October cover girl for Elle" but that she'd be "keeping all of her clothes on."

Some Things Never Change

Pop superstar Madonna was left red-faced after a Live 8 interview on Saturday when she swore about the unflattering lighting without realizing her comments were being broadcast live.

The Material Girl was quizzed by Britain's Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley following her performance at the London concert.

But she was horrified to discover the cameras were already rolling when she snapped, "Can't you do anything about the f**king lighting? It's really harsh."

Brando Auction

Because inquiring minds wanted to know...

Late movie legend Marlon Brando's personal script from the 1972 movie The Godfather fetched a staggering $312,800 at a New York auction on Thursday - the highest amount ever paid for a film manuscript.

The annotated script - which fetched 20 times its estimated price - was part of a controversial sale of items removed from Brando's Los Angeles home. The high-profile auction at Christie's made more than $2.3 million in total, with surprising bids including $132,000 for author Mario Puzo's letter asking the actor to play gangster Don Corleone in the film.

The letter read, "Dear Mr. Brando, I wrote a book called The Godfather which has had some success and I think you're the only actor who can play the part. I know this was presumptuous of me but the best I can do by the book is try. I really think you'd be tremendous." A 44-year-old telegram from Brando to screen siren Marilyn Monroe sold for $36,000 while a photograph of the film icon and actress Rita Moreno in the 1968 movie The Night Of The Following Day fetched $48,000.

Brando's eldest son, Christian Brando, was furious about the auction, and made an unsuccessful bid to be given the items before the sale to decide which belongings his father would have wanted to keep. But Brando's other son, Miko Brando, is moved by the amount of money his late father's fans were willing to pay to own a piece of movie history: "I feel humbled by collectors and fans who have spent so freely to own a piece of my father's heritage and history." Brando died last year aged 80 leaving 11 children.

Mr. Snoopy?

Victoria Beckham's bad start with Snoop Dogg:

Victoria Beckham not only called him "Mr Snoopy" but also refused him the company of her husband for a night out on the town.

David and Snoop met for the first time backstage at the Live 8 gig in London and Snoop invited Becks out for a night on the lash. However, Posh was having none of it. "Look Mr Snoopy," she told the rapper. "You're not taking my husband out. I know all about your reputation."

She went on to tell The Sun: "As if I'd let David go out with him! I don't think he liked me calling him Mr Snoopy, he didn't find it very funny."

Posh is clearly keen to keep her eye on her hubby - who was overjoyed to have met the American singer. "I've wanted to meet him for ages. We got on well. I was impressed with his knowledge of football."

50 Years of Improv

Happy Anniversary, Improv:

Fifty years ago in a bar that is no longer open, a group of University of Chicago students and their friends debuted a unique style of improvised theater that challenged mainstream thinking, connected actors with their audience and raised a few laughs. Drawing from current events and audience suggestions, The Compass theater group laid the groundwork for cabaret-styled improv, spawning similar troupes across the country and at home like Chicago's trailblazing Second City.

The Compass "made it possible for people to go to a place where conventional values were challenged and the audience was not passive, they interacted," said The Compass co-founder David Shepherd, now 80. "It was groundbreaking."

On Tuesday, current University of Chicago students will honor The Compass' 50th anniversary by performing the theater's debut show in its former rehearsal space. They will act out newspaper stories, perform a scene between an unhappily married couple and their daughter, and improvise skits based on audience suggestions.

--The next time you're in Chicago, check out Second City if you haven't. It's always a great show.

Couture Chocolate

Starting last year, Godiva branched out of typical chocolate advertising with a series of ads featuring models like Sophie Dahl, Frankie Rayder, and Anouck Lepere, all posing lovingly with chocolate morsels. The ads ran in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle, and preceded a Valentine’s Day promotion offering chocolate buyers a lotto ticket worth a potential 52 pairs of Manolo Blahniks, including one custom-designed by the man himself.

This fall, the luxury cocoa company has even bigger plans, including another stab at fashion-forward ads and a relaunch of its G Collection, officially designated as “a couture line of chocolates.” Designed by Ritz Carlton refugee Normal Love, the collection is made by hand and inspired by the style world. Offerings include a “Mexican Hot Chocolate” piece designed to mirror a Frieda Kahlo painting, a “Passion Orange” chocolate heart that compliments the eerie romanticism of Marc Jacobs’ most recent collection, and the “Palet d’Or” chocolate stamped with little Gs.

Godiva must want to mirror the high fashion world in more ways then one; its stylish “couture” pieces change every season, and retail for over $300.

She Asked Him

Pink popped the question to her boyfriend Carey Hart.

Pink reportedly proposed to the motocross star during the Pro 250 class finals in Mammoth, California. She held up a sign that read: "Will you marry me?" as he rode past her position in the grand stands. The Mammoth Times reports that Hart continued another lap before Pink turned the sign over and wrote: "I'm serious!"

Assured that it was no joke, Hart then pulled off the track, letting his competitors pass him, and gave his future wife a kiss. We'll take that as a "Yes.

Sad

Grammy-winning R&B crooner Luther Vandross has died in Edison, New Jersey, at the age of 54, according to a spokesman for the John F. Kennedy Medical Center.

No cause of death was released, but spokesman Rob Cavanaugh said in a statement that Vandross "never really recovered" from a stroke two years ago.

The velvet-voiced singer of such hits as "Here and Now" had been in ill health since suffering a massive stroke on April 16, 2003, at his Manhattan home. Just months after Vandross's stroke, his 15th album, Dance with My Father, debuted at the top of the Billboard chart, making it his first No. 1 record. Vandross won four Grammys for the album, including song of the year and best male R&B vocal performance.

At the time, longtime friend Aretha Franklin told People of Vandross's easy charm: "Luther can double you over with his humor."

The Bunnies Get New Duds

Roberto Cavalli’s new gig: redesigning the Playboy bunny costume.

Playboy approached Cavalli to design the updated costume for the future Playboy venues at the new tower of the Palms Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas. Scheduled to open in early 2006, the tower will include a boutique casino and lounge, a nightclub, a retail store, and a two-story Hugh Hefner sky villa.

Cavalli’s will be the first reinterpretation of the costume in more than a quarter century. The bunny costume was first introduced at the original Playboy Club in Chicago in 1960, and began as a modified one-piece swimsuit with the addition of collar, cuffs, and the legendary rabbit ears and cottontail. Over time, the leg-cut became higher, a rosette with the Bunny's name was added, and the fabrics and colors enhanced. Cavalli is expected to reveal his concept later this year, which will likely be worn by select Playboy bunnies alongside the traditional bunny costume.

"The Bunny Costume has undergone only modest changes over the years, so as to maintain its identity and special character,” says Playboy Chairman and CEO Christie Hefner. “Roberto Cavalli is the perfect designer to reinterpret the magic of the original design, as he, too, embraces the good life, inspires an aspirational lifestyle for a jet-set crowd, and of course celebrates beautiful women."

And What Will the Royals Have to Say?

Paris Hilton wants to marry her fiance Paris Latisis in England, and has asked Prince Charles for permission to wed in St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or Windsor Castle.

Only members of the British royal family are allowed to tie the knot in the churches, but Hilton has her heart set on a fairy tale ceremony and has sent a begging letter to Buckingham Palace.

She says, "I've always wanted to be a princess on my big day and only a wedding in England could make that happen. "I've got my heart set on a ceremony at St Paul's or Westminster but I've had to write to the Prince to ask for a dispensation because I don't qualify. I really want to get married at Christmas though as I'd love to have snow and log snow and log fires, so Windsor is a cool back-up.

"Prince Charles got married there so it's good enough for me. I'm going to arrive in a horse and carriage. "There'll be roasted chestnuts and carol singers. Really traditional stuff.

"I'll be having parties in Miami and Los Angeles to celebrate the big event. There'll be a month of partying. "But the actual event is going to have a royal theme and London is the only place to do that. I'm the closest thing to American royalty anyway.

"It's fitting really as the Queen is married to a Greek (Prince Philip was born in Greece) and so will I be."

--Chestnuts aren't the only nuts in this scenario. And what the hell is he wearing? That ensemble is grotesque.

Boo Freaking Hoo, Saddam

Saddam Hussein is set to sue The Sun over our pictures of him in his undies.

The fallen Iraqi tyrant feels that the magazine's world-famous snaps of him in captivity infringed his human rights. He hopes to pocket £1million from the magazine

He is trying to recruit top British media lawyer David Price to help. But The Sun is ready to bite back. The magazine believes that if Saddam accuses them of violating his human rights, Saddam will be libelling them.

Sun lawyer Alex Wade said last night: “His claim is preposterous and we will defend our reputation. “We are preparing a strong case against Saddam and plan to sue for libel.”

Loser

He's flat broke and his career is in the toilet — but at least Tom Sizemore is dating a porn star.

The oft-arrested actor called Howard Stern's show yesterday morning when ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss was on to gloat that he's romancing buxom Vivid girl Lanny Barbie. Sizemore, who had a part in "Saving Private Ryan," was convicted of assaulting Fleiss and appeared in an L.A. courtroom last week to face charges that he violated his probation by using a fake penis called "The Whizzinator" to falsify a drug test.

Sizemore, who now claims to be clean and sober, told reporters outside the courtroom that his legal woes have left him with only $539 to his name.

The shows are organized by Bob Geldof, the man behind 1985's Live Aid concert, a 17-hour marathon that played simultaneously in London and Philadelphia, reached a television audience of more than 1.5 billion and raised over $100 million to help the famine-stricken people of Africa.

Feeling Her Age

Sharon Stone used body doubles for raunchy scenes in Basic Instinct 2 — because she fears she is over the hill at 48.

The blonde star — who famously uncrossed her legs while sans underwear in the first film — romps frequently in the sequel, including with a lesbian. An insider on the film — being shot in central London — said: “There is lots of sex in the sequel.

“Dozens of girls were interviewed for the sex scenes and Sharon decided which ones she wanted to use. “She is 48 and time has taken its toll in some departments.”

Sources also claim that blonde extras are being vetted to make sure they don’t upstage star Sharon — and sent home if they are too pretty.

Steinbeck's Imagination

Nobel Prize-winning "Grapes of Wrath" author John Steinbeck had quite an imagination, and not only for his characters.

Harper's magazine recently unearthed a memo dated Jan. 14, 1966, written to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara by Jack Valenti, then special assistant to President Lyndon Johnson. Valenti, who corresponded with Steinbeck "from time to time," calls the novelist "a fascinating man, with a kind of imaginative flair for war and weaponry."

In the memo, Steinbeck proposed that the army adopt a baseball-like napalm grenade for use in Vietnam, which he called the "Steinbeck super ball." "An enemy with a bit of flame on his clothes or even in front of him is out of combat," he noted.

Wedding Bells for Bice

American Idol runner-up Bo Bice and his girlfriend, Caroline Fisher, have gotten married in their home state of Alabama.

The couple, who have been together for almost two years, exchanged vows on June 15. Bice and Fisher's marriage certificate was granted Thursday in Shelby County, Ala. "It was a small, intimate wedding," Bice's publicist, Roger Widynowski, tells People.

Fisher, 24, met Bice, 29, before he stole the spotlight on FOX's talent hunt – when he worked as a guitar store clerk and frequented the Ragtime Cafe in Hoover, Ala., where she waited tables.

--Freebird! (Sorry, but that's all I can think about now when I hear about him).

Dressing Like Grams

The fashion forecast for summer: Crocheted cardigans. Knee-skimming skirts. Kumquat-size beads. Baggy, saggy dresses. Bermuda shorts. Brooches. Forget boho chic and celebutante trashy. The look this summer is a little, well, older.

Senior citizen style - "the things that you would find in your grandmother's closet" - is what's au courant, says Erin Sumwalt, fashion market editor at In Style magazine.

All over the city, twentysomething women are sporting clothing that wouldn't look out of place on their sixtysomething relatives, from floral prints and oversize sunglasses to sensible sandals.

And exactly what accounts for the switch from teen tart (remember last summer's flouncy micro-minis?) to the current retirement revival, according to Jeffrey Campbell, a shoe designer in L.A. whose line includes refurbished '40s wedges? "It is a backlash to the Paris Hilton phenomenon," he says. Looking hot in a tube top or slip dress is no challenge. But if you can pull off a knee-length skirt, layers of wildly printed tops, pearls and some early-bird-special sandals, you're a style icon. "To me, that is what determines the trend setters from the followers," says Campbell.

"Definitely, a strong woman is wearing the granny stuff," agrees Nypull's DeLuise.

--Thanks, but no thanks. Guess I'm not "strong" enough to wear granny chic. Pearls and brooches, I can handle. But I don't do baggy dresses. When you're 5'3, knee-length and baggy makes you look like you just stepped off the Mayflower.
