VMA Noms

Pop-punk trio Green Day led MTV's 2005 Video Music Awards nominations Monday, scoring eight nods, while Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliott nabbed six each.

Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and the Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," will go head-to-head in the video of the year category. Also in the running is Coldplay's "Speed of Sound," Kayne West's "Jesus Walks" and Snopp Dogg and Pharrell's "Drop It Like It's Hot."

U2 was nominated five times, while Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, the Killers and My Chemical Romance each received four nods. Nearly 20 other performers received multiple nominations, including Destiny's Child, 50 Cent, the White Stripes, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson and Usher, among others.

The VMAs, which will be hosted by P. Diddy, will air Aug. 28 from Miami (which happens to be the height of that city's hurricane season). Appropriately, the show's theme will be water, and the nominees will perform at the AmericanAirlines Arena, which overlooks the Biscayne Bay.

Like last year, celebrities will pull up to the bayfront arena in gleaming yachts, but this time some stars will arrive in souped-up cars for an auto show on the red carpet. MTV also is planning a water show designed by the company that created the Bellagio Hotel and Casino's water fountain in Las Vegas. "Every year we have to outdo ourselves," MTV President Christina Norman said, according to the Associated Press. "This year is no exception."

Sorry j----I am clueless as to its meaning as well.

I cannot vouch for any of the videos (even if I watched MTV, I have a suspicion that videos are no longer included in their format), but that green day song is by far one of the best songs of this millenia.
