80's Poll

When you think "80s movie song," the first song that comes to mind is....

A. "Don't You Forget About Me" The Breakfast Club
B. "Take My Breath Away" Top Gun
C. "Flashdance...What a Feeling" Flashdance
D. "Footloose" Footloose
E. "Ghostbusters" Ghostbusters
F. "I've Had the Time of My Life" Dirty Dancing
G. "Against All Odds" Against All Odds
H. "If You Leave" Pretty in Pink
I. "Up Where We Belong" An Officer and a Gentleman
K. "Eye of the Tiger" Rocky III
L. "When Doves Cry" Purple Rain
M. Other?

I've got to go with H.

You Said

Dang...all those are good, but I guess I have to go with B. "You Take My Breath Away".

Says: Swt GA HunnyB at July 22, 2004 07:44 AM

Put me down for D.

Says: mike at July 22, 2004 07:59 AM

What a great list, but it definitely dates me ;)

"When Doves Cry", without a doubt. It's one of my all-time favorite albums. But "If You Leave" is a close second. I was 14 or 15 and thought Andrew McCarthy was the hottest thing going...

Says: Amanda at July 22, 2004 08:28 AM

You know, Danger Zone came to mind. From Top Gun. So, I'm going with M for Other.

Says: Robin at July 22, 2004 08:31 AM

Oh Amanda--I totally wanted to have Andrew's children.

Says: Lawren at July 22, 2004 08:34 AM

Ooh, nope - not me...I wanted to have Jon Cryer's children - Duckie was the bomb...but now that i have seen his children on that dumb ass show with Charlie Sheen, I think I will have to pass...oh yeah, and I would either have to go with "If You Leave," "Don't You Forget About Me" (Judd Nelson ROCKED) or "Footloose"...I mean, any song that can rhyme Louise and feet is lyrically ingenious.

Says: Kelly P. at July 22, 2004 08:50 AM

Can I just tell you that we did "Footloose" in show choir? Yeah. I'm THAT cool.

Says: Lawren at July 22, 2004 08:56 AM

I'm going to have to go with A, "Don't You Forget About Me."

The Breakfast Club was really the movie that defined my high school years.

Although yesterday I was listening to the Ghostbusters theme on my iPod. Yikes.

Says: Kevin the Interloper at July 22, 2004 08:59 AM

A

Says: Jay Solo at July 22, 2004 09:27 AM

Two songs for me:
A: Don't you forget about me and M: (Other)Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins from Top Gun.

Kelly P. if you had Jon Cryer's children they would have had your brains :)

Says: Brian D. at July 22, 2004 09:27 AM

A.
I really like that song too!

Says: daniel at July 22, 2004 09:34 AM

A, for me. No question. Now, if we stay with Top Gun for a minute, I'd want to change the suggested tune to, "You've lost that loving feeling".

Says: RP at July 22, 2004 09:52 AM

I think (had that graphic not been there) the first song that I'd've thought of would've been the title tune from Weird Science (but that's probably just me...)

Says: LDH at July 22, 2004 10:02 AM

I just don't understand why "Rock Me Amadeus" isn't on this list.

Says: Robert the Llama Butcher at July 22, 2004 10:25 AM

I'm with ya on H. I love A too. Great flicks!

Says: GrumpyBunny at July 22, 2004 02:33 PM

Showing my age, I would have to say all of the above. Plus Danger Zone and the Heat is On from Beverly Hill Cop. Confession - I still have Lost Boys, Purple Rain and Dirty Dancing soundtrack. BUT! I haven't listened to them in a while...
Oh, Fast Times, another classic 80's flick had the Cars and that Jackson Browne song Somebody's Baby.

Says: Lynne at July 22, 2004 06:53 PM

I was (am) a fanatic about my Lost Boys soundtrack!

Says: robin at July 22, 2004 07:30 PM

Put me down for A

Says: Skerdog at July 23, 2004 10:59 AM
