Christina's Cheap Ways

Last weekend's really serious partying didn't even start until after the MTV Video Music Awards were over, since many celebrities extended their stay in Miami despite 90-degree heat.

Christina Aguilera hid under a fedora while she ate with her boyfriend - and apparently she's not much of a tipper. She and pals ordered up $300 worth of food to the Raleigh pool early Monday morning - but only left $12.

--That's just infuriating. I can't stand cheap people. Let alone rich cheap people. Don't leave the house unless you are prepared to tip. I very rarely leave less than 20%--usually only if it's a buffet or something.

You Said

Tipping at buffets... I once heard a couple at another table brag to their guests that they never tip at buffets. I couldn't help myself. I interrupted and informed them that their waitron makes a sub-ninimum wage, just like wait staff at a regular restaurant, and though she doesnt have to serve or take orders, she still had to clear their dirty plates and get them ne wones, get them drinks, etc.

They still left a lousy dollar tip for a tab that, judging by the size of their party, was in the $80.00 + range.

If I worked there, I know who's iced tea I'd be spitting in the next time they were seated at my table.

Oh I agree--I still tip at least 15%, just sometimes not 20%--if the service is really bad.

Lawren, I knew there was a reason I liked you so much!

Cheap people do suck, and I in fact refuse to dine with someone I know is a lousy tipper.

That's just sad and pathetic.

I worked in a restaurant all thru college as well as having an 18-month stint as a casino dealer a few years ago. I honestly believe the measure of a person can be traced to their tipping practices.

Despite my experience hustling for tips, I always was a good tipper. Good tipping equals good karma, if you ask me. Besides, that extra buck or two helps the server/dealer a whole lot more than it'll hurt me.

If you're rich, you have no excuse. Although I must say the blue collar/working class folks were, on the whole, better tippers and usually more appreciative of good service.

Just my 2-cents...errrr....20%-worth. :-)

I usually tip in he 15-20% range, but if the service is bad I go down to 10%. I actually chat with Christina online all the time. At least that is what the person claims to be. Since I find it humorous I just go along with it, but sometimes 'she' knows things that make me wonder. Perhaps I'll ask 'Christina' when I see her online next time about this. Should be a fun chat ;-)

I think someone needs to take the ambulence to the mental hospital.

Shame on them, that is just simple arrogrance.
Lets hope she corrected the error when she checked out of the Raleigh and if she didn't, don't think she should stay there again.

Says: Lynne at September 9, 2004 09:20 PM

I cannot stand people who do not leave a proper tip - - I'm sure they ran their server ragged and then threw down twelve bucks - - she should have kept it in that case - - twelve dollars, pathetic

Says: Uptown Girl at September 10, 2004 11:01 AM

Are you KIDDING me only $12??????

Ugh.
