Casting Call

Hollywood hunks Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman are battling for the lead role in movie adaptation of best-seller The Da Vinci Code.

The film's director, Ron Howard will choose which actor would best suit the role of Robert Langdon, who discovers clues in Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, which lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for 2000 years.

--Who would you pick?

You Said

I wouldn't pick any of those based on the book - but given Hollywood and Ron Howard - I'm willing to bet it's Hanks.

This is hard bc I'm in love with Gworge Clooney, but unfortunately he doesn't fit the part. I would prob go with Tom Hanks.

Never thought about it, but Tom Hanks, methinks. I think I imagained Robert Langdon a little older than these guys, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Yep - I go with Tom Hanks as well....I pictured Robert Langdon more Tom Hanks's age than Hugh Jackman's age...plus, I just love him...

Of the four, I'd have to go with Hanks as well. Any of the other three would tend (to me anyhoo) to make it too "Indiana Jones" (not that that's not where this will wind up, Ron Howard or not...)

I have to agree. Of the 4, Hanks seems to fit the image I conjured up in my head of the Langdon character. Maybe I should pop the book open again and check out the author's description of the character.

I can't imagine any of these guys! I know the main character is American, but when I read the book I pictured Trevor Eve, who plays Peter Boyle on BBC's Waking the Dead.

for some reason, Hanks is the last person I would go with... call me crazy, I just think Hank's is too...cheesy?...for the role. I would go with Russell Crowe of Clooney. The slightly edgier, more mysterious ones.

I would go with Vin Diesel. Granted, I have never read the book, but Vin is so nice to look at :)

Hanks hasn't had a great role to sink his teeth into for a few years. Castaway is the last one I could think of.

Those of us moved beyond words by his performance in "Philadephia" know he is anything but "cheesy."

I'm sure Ron Howard will pick Tom Hanks (which I think will work, in the end) but out of that list, Russell Crowe would most fit the description. (I would also humbly submit that Hugh Jackman would be the WORST choice, because I sorta doubt his acting abilities and he has already starred a bunch of times with Kate Beckinsale, who I heard had been cast as the French Sophie. And I don't think that they were that cute together). Just my opinion. :)

Russell Crowe definitely!
