Lawren's Literary Corner

I'm going to save you all the trouble of buying and reading Amber Frey's new book. I haven't read it (nor will I), but from the interviews I've seen about it so far, here's Cliff Note:

I'm a hobag who is cashing in on a tragedy. The End.

I feel for her in that she was totally snowed by Peterson. But newsflash, dear Amber, you were NOT the victim here. So, stop acting like it.

And in other book news...NBA star Charles Barkley is letting his pen do the talking.

The former All-Star forward, who's known for his outrageous off-the-cuff declarations, has a book due in May titled, "Why Do White People Hate Me?"

The folks at Penguin have yet to see Barkley's manuscript, but state that he's trying to get to the bottom of the Caucasian conspiracy against him by interviewing the likes of Maya Angelou, Magic Johnson, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton.

You Said

Thanks for the heads up on the Amber Frey book. I wouldn't have bought it in a million years but some inconsiderate bugger might have left it lying around a waiting room somewhere.

Amber Frey made me laugh and shake my head when, at the beginning of the Laci Peterson saga, she:

a) called a press conference -- A FREAKIN' PRESS CONFERENCE -- to tell people she's not talking. Huhwha???????

b) Hired Gloria Alred as her attorney.

Yeah, she was really looking to keep a low profile.

This may sound shallow in light of other obvious issues here, but her hair looked like crap in her Matt Lauer interview. I mean, if I were being interviewed by Matt Lauer, for God's sake, I would have at least gotten my roots done.

I tried to feel for Amber as much as possible but I lost all sympathy for her when she had another baby so soon. Her track record with men - I think I would have chilled on the dating for a good long while.

I hope Bark is doing a sequel called "Why do Black People Hate Me?" Then he can interview my dad....

Amber's on Oprah right now. Her roots have been done.

I feel for her, though. Her track record may not be the best, but who's is? I'm not going to judge her - ultimately, she found the strength to do the right thing.
