Chuck + Cammy

Prince Charles announced Thursday that he will marry his lover Camilla Parker Bowles, putting an official seal on a long romance that Princess Diana blamed for the breakdown of her tempestuous marriage to the heir to the throne.

The Prince of Wales and Parker Bowles will marry on Friday, April 8, at Windsor Castle, said Clarence House, Charles' residence and office.

They will be married in a largely private civil ceremony at the palace, not in a Church of England service.

--I'll never understand how he could pick Cammy over Di. I mean, look at her!

You Said

I have my suspicions that..

SHE'S A MAN, BABY!!

In which case it is crystal clear why he would pick her...er..him.

Ditto. I mean Diana had looks and a somewhat crazy personality but it was because she got treated like dog crap by Charles and the Royal Family.

But you know how some men are, they rather have a ugly woman over someone with beauty.

Wierd discussion about feminine beauty when you think about it. A woman is only "worthy" of marriage if she is beautiful???

Says: Jasper at February 10, 2005 07:58 AM

Not at all--but as far as grace, class, charm, etc. I'd say Di wins hands down. AND--keep in mind Camilla was getting it on w/ Charles when he was still married, so I lose a bit of respect for her there too.

Says: Lawren at February 10, 2005 07:59 AM

So that was grace, class, charm, etc being exuded when Diana was getting it on with Major Hewitt while married to Charles?

Says: Mephistopheles at February 10, 2005 09:06 AM

The two simply like each other. They both have many things in common, they share many similar interests, they always loved each other. Take out the 'royal' factor and make them two ordinary people they would be perfectly happy and gotten married 35 years ago.

Charles marriage to Diana was damn near an arranged marriage. He didn't know her very well and because he's royalty he had to marry someone of certain stature. No wonder the marriage failed.

I happy for Charles. He gets to marry the woman he always wanted to be with.

I guess I'm clearly the minority with this one!

Says: Lawren at February 10, 2005 09:31 AM

Nah...i agree with you, L. But...i am so silly, i thought they already were married....duh.

Says: Kelly P. at February 10, 2005 09:54 AM

you can say she isn't as attractive as Diana was. She is not as young either.
I think they looked like an equally matched couple. (charles and di where far from that, they should have never married).
And when is a lasting & successful marriage only about looks and age?

Says: lynne at February 10, 2005 10:06 AM

Ok, I think I'm being misunderstood here. I never said anything about a lasting marriage being linked to being pretty.

I just happen to like Di. I happen to think Charles treated her like shit, perpetuated her eating disorder, etc. So, I just have kind of a dislike for him. Just my opinion, that's all.

I'm sure Di wasn't perfect--I wasn't saying she was. But, she did a lot to perpetuate the "image" that Charles demanded, and he wasn't very nice to her in return.

Says: Lawren at February 10, 2005 10:30 AM

I swear if she took off her makeup and wore a flannel button up and Lee jeans, she'd look like one of my white trash neighbors up here in Nobletucky. *snort* (that was awful of me, wasn't it?)

Says: Pam at February 10, 2005 11:43 AM

Lawren - i'll have to send u a link someday to my wedding photo from 1989 -- my hairstylist did my hair just like Di. I used to get told I looked like her all the time (until I got pg x 3 and fat! LOL)

Says: Pam at February 10, 2005 11:44 AM

Lawren -
I agree Diana was a beautiful, stunning smart, and caring woman. She is an icon indeed.
And yes Charles treated her like shit but that is not what you said - so we are calling you on it. :)

Says: lynne at February 10, 2005 01:12 PM

And just LOOK at old Charles! He's still using that old "Pull My Finger" routine...

I'm not crazy about Camilla - - I think because of the whole Princess Di thing - - but everyone deserves a bit of happiness in their lives -- so I hope these two are happy
