Oscar and Martha Collaborate

On April 6th, the Martha Graham Dance Company kicks off its 2005 season with a revival of the 1940's piece "Deaths and Entrances," featuring costumes by legendary designer Oscar de la Renta.

This drama of desire and repression is inspired by the lives of the Bronte sisters, and de la Renta's costumes continue the haute legacy Graham initiated when she collaborated with Calvin Klein and Halston on earlier works.

"Re-imagining the original costumes, Oscar de la Renta's talent for dramatic yet human design will draw the 1840's lives of the Bronte sisters through the lens of Graham's 1940's creation of the characters, into beautiful present life," according to the MGDC's artistic directors Christine Dakin and Terese Capucilli.

"Deaths and Entrances" runs through April 17th at New York City Center and opens with a fashionista-studded gala, hosted by Melania Trump, Diane von Furstenburg, Vera Wang and Andre Leon Talley.

--Sounds very cool.
