America knows Melanie Griffith and her hubby Antonio Banderas as one of the most blissfully wedded couples in Hollywood ... but soon Griffith will take on the role of a woman caught in a turbulent marriage.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she has signed on to co-star in an upcoming comedy pilot for the WB network. The Oscar-nominated blonde ('Working Girl') will play the mother of a pair of completely opposite fraternal twin girls (Sara Gilberty and Molly Standon) in the still-untitled show.

--I could care less about seeing Melanie Griffith on TV. I'm more pumped for the return of Darlene. :)
