Snoop's Cleared
A makeup artist who sued Snoop Dogg and several members of his posse for allegedly drugging and raping her backstage at the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show two years ago has dropped her lawsuit.
The accuser said in a statement that "the matter has been resolved amicably," according to The Associated Press. Snoop's publicist said "absolutely no money" was paid by the rapper (whose real name is Calvin Broadus) in reaching a settlement. The woman's attorneys filed the request August 3 to dismiss the suit with prejudice, which means that it can't be refiled.
The woman, who had done the rapper's makeup before a series of four guest appearances on the late night talk show, claimed she was drugged when someone spiked her champagne before the final appearance. No criminal charges were ever brought against the rapper or his entourage.
Snoop sued the makeup artist in December 2004, one month before she filed her suit against him. The rapper's claim stated that the accuser had been attempting to extort $5 million from him in exchange for her silence. His suit requested punitive damages and an injunction to bar the accuser from threatening him in the future. Snoop Dogg's attorney has requested that this suit be dropped as well.
