John Travolta and Kelly Preston are urging Katie Holmes to have a 'silent birth' when she has Tom Cruise's baby.

Scientologists believe children should be brought into the world quietly with no expressions of pain from the mother. Kelly said: "It's just because everything in moments of pain is really recorded and you want to have that peaceful and clear of sort of suggestions or different words that can then affect them in their future."

Katie, 26, who started dating Tom in April is thought to be three months pregnant.

And in other TomKat news:

Katie Holmes has fired her publicist Leslie Sloane-Zelnick after nine years together, and has hired her fiance Tom Cruise's sister as her new spokesperson.

Since Holmes began her controversial relationship with Cruise, she has parted ways with her management company, agents and now Sloane-Zelnick. Holmes will now be represented by Cruise's sister and fellow Scientologist Lee Anne DeVette, who became the actor's spokesperson last year after he left his longtime publicist Pat Kingsley.

Sloane-Zelnick tells the New York Daily News, "We were with her for nine years. We wish her the best. She has chosen to work with her future sister-in-law. We wish her well, and congratulate her on her happy news."

You Said

Now see, I agree with that. Had Tom been able to keep quiet about his "love" for Katie Holmes, my world would be peaceful and clear right now. My future is forever affected.

Wow. The Cult of Tom. Neat stuff.

As for the "silent birth" and no expressions of pain, I'd like to quote one of my favorite lines from The Princess Bride:

"Life is pain...anybody who tells you differently is selling you something."

Well, I have happy, well-adjusted kids and I had them the old-fashioned way...no drugs and lots of screaming.

I can't help but remember the person who commented that Tom falls for younger women he can control.

And does anyone else feel like Kelly Preston and John Travolta are almost Stepfordian in their "advice"?

Says: tortoiseshelly at October 10, 2005 12:56 PM

Ya know, maybe that whole silent thing worked for them, and if so, good for them...but it doesn't necessarily follow that it works for everyone. Katie, repeat after me, "EPIDURAL."

Ok, let me get this straight....If I scream in pain while giving birth, my kids will be affected by that for the rest of their lives? Katie, honey, do yourself a favor, and tell all of them to shut the hell up! The best advice you will ever get is not to listen to anyones advice!! Do what is right for YOU and to hell with everyone else. And whatever you do, DON'T let Tom dictate your medical care. Because if you suffer from post-partum depression, as almost 2/3 of women do, you will most certainly not get the care you need. I wish her luck. The poor girl doesn't know what she's getting into. I hope her family will stay close...she'll need them, and the baby she carries most definitely will need them too.
