Saturday Night Lacking

Did anyone else catch them on SNL this weekend? Yeah, she really sang. And, she's terrible. What was more disappointing, however, was how awfully-not-funny the show was. I mean, Napoleon was hosting! Him simply talking is funny most of the time. I know it's not as good as in past years, but this was horrendous! Seriously--hire new writers SNL.

You Said

I dunno. I kinda laughed at the opening skit and the one from the conference (the pranks).

But I have NEVER found Horatio Sanz funny.

Ever.

I think it's way past time to cancel SNL. I can't even bring myself to watch it anymore.

Very Sad, SNL's fall from grace has been. I did not see this episode, but aside from Tina Fey I have not liked anyone on the show for some time.

I'll agree with the Tina Fey assertion. She is the funniest person on the show...too bad she's on maternity leave.

SNL has a way of rebounding, though. They always do.

I agree... they should have had a different host and musical guest. They sucked.

Some of the kids made me yawn. I had to get up and get a drink till it was over. LOL

But some of them were funny. I think Amy Poehler is hillarious and Horacio Sanz... he's a riot.

They are my 2 favorite... I think it's just hard to come back after taking a break. That's all... they'll get better. :-)
They're just a lil' rusty

I think I'd find John Heder funny if he could play more than one character...just sayin'. Also, that haircut is not doing him any favors. Seriously.

The monologue was the best part of the show - those characters playing up the "Napoleon Dynamite" story were great. You knew they were going to throw that in somewhere ... I was hoping John Heder would don the Napoleon garb one more time, though.

Ashlee sucks. Plain and simple. Her song was as boring as boring can be ... and as SAFE as you can get, musically. Anyone can sing that crap and sound "okay" .... talk about playing it safe. But that's what you do when you SUCK but are constantly in the spotlight thanks to Daddy and your sister.

As far as SNL goes, in general, I think it's time to pull the plug. You can only piggy-back off your past glory so long on television. Once Will Ferell and Jimmy Fallon left, it was time to call it quits.

Says: Iceman at October 10, 2005 12:06 PM

I totally agree on both points. It's not even worth staying up for anymore. Or maybe I'm just getting old?

Who's the hottie on the left?

Says: mike at October 11, 2005 11:04 AM

Back in the days before SNL, NBC used to put on a nice rerun of Johnny Carson on Saturday nights.

They should go back to putting on nice reruns of Johnny Carson on Saturday nights.
