Tofu Pie in the Face

Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue magazine, was hit with a tofu pie by anti-fur demonstrators as she attended Paris fashion week.

Dan Mathews, vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said the vegetarian tofu tart was retaliation for Vogue's decision to run fur ads while refusing to use PETA's anti-fur messages. The animal rights group offered to pay the same fee, Mathews said.

Wintour, editor of the U.S. edition of Vogue, was hit with the tart as she waited to see the Chloe fashion show Saturday. It was the second time in a year that PETA has hit her with a pie.

One again the PETA-nazis foul up.

Vogue is entirely within its rights to refuse any advertising. The magazine should start a Pie-Count to highlight their independence (though Anna should probably have a change of clothes delivered to her appearances beforehand).

I't simply outrageous tha way these stupid people hit celebrities with pies. It's IMPOSSIBLE sto stop using animals furs, and why should we? They have to start being more down-on-heart and maybe start to protest for serious things like "everyone's right to shoes", lol, just kidding!

If I were her, I'd press charges. Last time I checked, assault & battery were still a crime. Someone needs to stand up to these thugs!

Honestly, I don't think PETA would mind the PR of a trial, despite how right or correct you may be.

I imagine their lawyers would use a trial as a platform. It would keep the story going. Vogue magazine has nothing to gain by pressing charges, other than to martyr PETA.

Right or wrong, I think Vogue would come out looking bad in the long run because what's right and correct in the courtroom isn't always so in the court of public opinion.

That can certainly be a frustrating reality.

(This should not be construed as a defense of PETA's actions. I'm just putting on my PR hat for a minute.)

I think Ms. Wintour should start carrying a big bag of hamburgers with her and give the PETA fanatics some of their own! Btw, Ms. Wintour has shown a lot more restraint than I would have. I'd have been cramming some fur down the throat of the pie-thrower.

I DO like the burger idea! I see some cross-marketing opportunities with McDonald's!!! LOL

In my opinion those people that defende so much the animals rights should defende the animals that are bad treated by they owners, and should think about trying to take all pets that are abandoned by they owners from the streets. I think most of this animal defenders are just crying out because they can´t buy fur....my opinion.
