Real World: Detroit?

Real World: Detroit?

Royal Oak, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, may be the location of the next Real World season.

Viacom, MTV’s parent company, “leased 8,812 square feet of space for its MTV network in downtown Royal Oak,” the Oakland Business Review reports. “The space is in the Main North development, which is under construction on Main Street, near 11 Mile Road” and “is categorized as office space.”

The paper calls Royal Oak an “eclectic suburban town.” Adding fire to the rumors: Detroit hosts the Super Bowl in February. Dampening the rumors: It’s Detroit and it’s cold, and the show hasn’t filmed in a cold climate during the winter since the Boston season.

You must not be from Detroit to have that photo as your visual respresentation of the city. Areas shown in the picture exist in every urban city, not just Detroit and no one ever mentions the beautiful areas such as New Boston and Palmer Woods, which have huge, beautiful, luxurious mansions.
Real World Detroit is a great idea, the city of Royal Oak is progressive, posh and no different than any of the cities they have already visited.

I used to live in Detroit and then later Monroe. Not only happy that I got out becuase of all the racial tension but estatic because Michigan is full of depressed people because of the lousy weather so expect Real World Seattle...bring back the Miami, Hawaii and San Diego.

If you want to REALLY see what the Real World: Detroit will look like...and NOT blown out houses (like those you can find in ANY major city) check out the pictures I took of the SkyLofts they will be located in: http://raywert.blogspot.com/2005/11/main-north-project-aka-real-world.html
