Berry's Baby Brigade?

Rumor du jour:

The New York Daily News is reporting that Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry is either pregnant or trying to have a baby.

Berry, who has been dating her Their Eyes Were Watching God co-star Michael Ealy, hasn't been shy when talking about her hope to become a mother.

Talking about her upcoming 40th birthday, the 39-year-old actress told Oprah Winfrey in March, "If there's no serious man, whoever I'm dating at the time, I'll say, 'Hey, would you like to have a baby? I'll sign a paper that will say I won't ask you for one red cent.'

You Said

She's going to be 40? Wow. I had no idea.

I am not positive on this, but I am fairly sure that a mother cannot disclaim child support or release a father from his obligations under the rationale that the support belongs to the child, not the mother.

Realistically, of course, Halle would not need any financial assistance in raising a child, and unless the mother forces the issue (see Shar, K-Fed's baby-momma), the state will not intervene.

Ren is exactly right.

I know a gay guy who merely donated sperm to a lesbian couple, complete with disclaimer and waiver of support. Flash forward a few years, the women break up, and the guy gets served with papers seeking support, and there was nothing he could do but pay up.
