Beatles-Inspired Sneaks

Peter Max’s kooky, cartoony graphics and his animation for the Beatles’ 1968 film Yellow Submarine took psychedelia’s otherworldly aesthetic into the mainstream.

Still hard at work at 66, Max sells his merchandise online and through QVC. These affectionately rendered tributes, from Marc by Marc Jacobs, are in somewhat more limited distribution.

You Said

Very cool. I suppose it's a sign of where I am in life, though, that I get more pleasure from Carter's line of John Lennon infant and toddler products, derived from drawings John did for his son Sean in the 1970s. Needless to say, Noah had a bunch of these.

I'm sorry, but those shoes are ugly. Lawren, would you wear them to school? I wouldn't. I don't think I'd wear them outside the house. I wouldn't want anyone to see me.

Says: Grant at April 14, 2004 04:31 PM

I didn't say they were cute, Grant! They are ugly as hell! I was just keeping everyone up to date as to what was being touted as "in" in Vogue and In Style this month. :)

Says: Lawren at April 14, 2004 06:19 PM

Those look fancy!

Says: daniel at April 14, 2004 06:48 PM

Sorry, Lawren. I guess I was responding to Professor Cooper rather than your post.

I would definitely point and laugh at you if you wore those things to school.

I was confused. I realize now that you made no reference to whether or not you thought the shoes were "cute." I made an unfair assumption. I'll never do it again. But, I will probably throw things in your hair in class. Maybe some gum or some cracker jacks or something. Every once in a while I'll have something cool in my pocket to throw. I once dropped a nickel down some girl's buttcrack at Tiki Boob's. She didn't notice.

Wow - Grant, once again....completely inspired by your blog-candor...I am moved by your Tiki Boob story...so much so that I may have to see what coinage i can toss down people's pants ;)

Says: at April 15, 2004 09:20 AM

No name,
It's really tricky to get a nickel down someone's buttcrack. I waited until the girl, in her low-rise pants, was squatting down on the bar top at Tiki Boob's. Then I dropped it in. I can only imagine when and where it fell out.

I call it "Tiki Boob's" because the same girl who got the nickel down her buttcrack was flashing her fake (with nipple piercings) breasts while dancing on the bar top. It's a classy place.

Says: Grant at April 15, 2004 05:06 PM

Dude, sorry - Lawren's new fangled set up has got me all flustered - I posted about the coinage - and after the dirty penny reference over on Chuck's blog - you need to work at the US Mint :) The important question for you, Grant is: did you get change for your nickel at tiki boob's????

Says: Kelly P at April 15, 2004 07:13 PM

heh heh - those are trippy looking. Looks like some tacky shit one of my good friends would be wearing in the 80's.

Says: Lori at April 16, 2004 12:17 AM

No, I did not get change for my nickel. I don't think I would have wanted it though. The really would have been dirty pennies.

Says: Grant at April 16, 2004 11:25 AM

Those shoes rock!

Says: Sweety at April 17, 2004 05:17 AM

I wish you great success, good luck and a lot of fun for the future. Maybe one day you will really be the best of all.
