On The Road With The Stones

Mercedes-Benz is launching the new R-Class sports tourer by taking it on the road with The Rolling Stones.

The Mercedes R-class is the official automobile partner of the Stones’ A Bigger Bang concert in the U.S. and Canada. “This initiative partners the energy and creativity of the world’s most legendary band with the automotive industry’s most legendary brand,” said Mercedes rep Carol Goll.

In addition, the sponsorship will include “Rock the R” online sweepstakes where lucky winners will get two first-class roundtrip airline tickets and accommodations to see Mick, Keith, and boys up close during the European leg of their tour. The car will also be featured on-location at each stop of the Bigger Bang tour, which kicked off in Boston on August 21. The R-class cars will be available in dealerships this fall.

You Said

Maybe it is just me, but that looks a lot like a minivan. A really ugly minivan.

No, if it had sliding doors it would be a really ugly minivan. Since it has regular doors it is a ugly ridiculously expensive station wagon. Given the quality control problems Mercedes has had lately I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who could actually afford it.

Then again who can afford Stones tix now?
