Sticking Her Foot in Her Mouth

Christina Aguilera has just been dumped by a British fashion label and is facing a multi-million pound lawsuit, all thanks to a throwaway comment.

The 24-year-old US singer was to launch a high-street clothing range with Leicester-based company Basic Box, in June. But that was before Christina reportedly sneered at celebrity clothing ranges at an Oscars bash, calling them "tacky". She made matters worse by adding, "It makes people look like they don't know what to do any more."

Furious bosses at Basic Box severed all ties with her this week. They have also instructed media law firm Harbotte & Lewis to bring High Court proceedings against Aguilera and her company, Three Wishes Productions. A Basic Box spokesman told us: "Following Christina Aguilera's negative comments in the media regarding celebrities who bring out their own clothing labels, we have terminated the licence agreement. "We are extremely disappointed. We thought she was totally behind the project so her comments came as something of a shock."

Basic Box. Christina's the budget version of celebrity as it is.

It should have been a match made in hell.
