Actress Gwyneth Paltrow signed to become a spokesmodel for cosmetics company Estee Lauder, because she was desperate for cash.

The star shocked fans when she agreed to front a high profile advertising campaign, but she insists it was her first paycheck in three years.

She says, "I'll tell you why. I basically stopped making money from acting in 2002. All the things I've done since then have been things I've really wanted to do and I have not made money from them."

Excuse me, but wasn't she the highest paid actress for a period of 3-4 years, at a clip of like $13 million per movie? If she managed to blow through that type of cash, and let's not forget she's got a multi-millionaire man, then I have lost respect for her. Oh wait, I never really liked her that much.

Again, it is the celeb's honesty here that is more provocative than the actual info.

Tis' true that she has not been in the major motion pics the last few years, opting instead for art-house and indie flicks. More power to her that she can snap her fingers and grab a huge modeling gig after a couple years of working for less than her market value.
