SATC Is HERE!

It's here, ladies! The clothes! The Choos! Mr. Big! (Also known as John James Preston) Manhattan's hot spots! Cosmos! This is going to be a long day 'til 10:15 tonight when I get to see the movie. Some friends saw an advance showing last night, and texted me to tell me I would NOT be disappointed!

:)

UPDATE: 10:56 am--I received several emails yesterday telling me that if I say anything on here, to not ruin anything. UGH! How am I supposed to do that? I guess I'll just say that it was very entertaining, and worth the price of admission. It could definitely have been a little shorter, but the laugh out loud moments are bountiful. My thoughts (without giving too much away):

Jennifer Hudson's (Saint Louise) character is a nice addition.

I wish they would have used Stanford more--I just love him.

I found myself getting a bit depressed in the middle, but the movie rebounds--just like Carrie always does.

I'm not sure I love what they do w/ Samantha's character.

Fergie's theme song blows. I mean...who the hell says "supercalifragisexy?"

I could have handled leaving out the gratuitous male and female "downstairs" shots.

I love that something happens to Charlotte that mortifies her prim and proper self. (You'll laugh hard at that one).

There's a very fun scene when Carrie cleans out her closet w/ all the girls. The perfect party idea!

You rarely see actual dramatic acting from any of them--but, there are some really well-acted dramatic scenes by SJP, Kristen Davis (I know...surprising, right?), and Cynthia Nixon.

Overall, SATC lovers WILL NOT be disappointed.

Another Talented Loss

Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to "The Carol Burnett Show" and was seen to hilarious effect on the big screen in "Blazing Saddles," died Thursday. He was 81.

Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations.

Here's a great clip of him barely keeping it together during a skit w/ Tim Conway:

Man. What a bad week for Hollywood. First, Sydney Pollack...now Harvey Korman. Anyone who hasn't seen his skits on the Carol Burnett Show, or his role in Blazing Saddles, should REALLY check him out. He's an effing comic genius.

Back Together

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are back together, but there are conditions! A source close to Romo told The Chicago-Sun Times, "'He did agree to go to Ashlee's wedding -- keeping his promise to Jessica. But he made it super-clear that if they were to give it another go, her dad had to seriously back off.''

Romo has agreed to continue his relationship with Jess on a "trial basis" as long as Papa Joe stays away and stops butting in.

Representin' Himself

He's not a lawyer, he just played one on TV - but now Dylan McDermott is representing himself. McDermott, who played Bobby Donnell on "The Practice" for seven years, has filed for divorce from his wife, Shiva Rose, the mother of his two daughters, citing irreconcilable differences. E! News reports McDermott is handling the case "in propria persona," as his own lawyer. The amateur litigator, who was separated in September, is said to be seeing Patricia Allred, who had a role in "How to Get Laid at the End of the World."

I used to love The Practice. I typically hate lawyer shows, but I thought that one was well done. Not surprising since I tend to like everything that David E. Kelly does.

The Decapitator Strikes SATC Ads!

Renegade artist and head-hunter the Decapitator has been bombarding the streets of London with a signature style of graffiti tag - removing the heads from major adverts around town, replacing them with ghastly, gory stumps.

Based on the images uploaded to his/her Flickr stream, "The East London Decapitator" is largely striking mainstream advertisements, and this week the victim is "Sex & The City", the movie.

RIP

Sydney Pollack, the Academy Award-winning director who collaborated with a long list of elite actors on films such as "Out of Africa," "Tootsie," "The Way We Were" and "Absence of Malice," died Monday. He was 73.

Pollack was diagnosed with cancer about nine months ago and died Monday afternoon, surrounded by family, at his home in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles, his publicist, Leslee Dart, said.

Gosh. What an amazing talent--both on screen and off. Some of my Pollack faves:

Tootsie (director)
The Way We Were (director)
The Firm (director)
Out of Africa (director)
Eyes Wide Shut (actor)
Will and Grace (actor who played Will's father)
Michael Clayton (actor)
The Talented Mr. Ripley (producer)

Broadway Bound

Katie Holmes will be spending a lot more time in New York City this fall: The actress has signed on to make her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's All My Sons.

Holmes, who had been reportedly in final negotiations for the part last March, will join John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson in the revival this fall.

Holmes will play a woman who visits the family of her former lover, a missing pilot. It will be her first play since high school and Holmes will be on stage six nights a week.

Hudstrong?

Lance Armstrong and Kate Hudson are certainly spending some quality time together.

The seven-time Tour de France winner and the actress were spotted in Austin on both Friday and Saturday nights. First, the pair dined at Eddie V's, a high-end restaurant frequented by Armstrong, according to a restaurant insider. "They came in [Friday] and had dinner together, it's true," an insider said.

The next night, Hudson, 29, and Armstrong, 36, ate at the casual Hula Hut with the athlete's three children and a group of friends. "They came in with the kids and a large group of people," says another restaurant source. "They ordered dinner – tacos, burgers and fries and that sort of stuff." Asked if the pair looked romantic, the source merely said, "They looked like they were having fun."

Hudson and Armstrong were also in the same place on Thursday: Both were spotted in New York at the Wildwood Barbeque restaurant at the afterparty following Kid Rock's Madison Square Garden concert. Hudson, who has been filming Bride Wars, recently called it quits with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Owen Wilson. Armstrong was most recently linked with Ashley Olsen.

Ashlee Ties the Knot

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony, their spokesperson said.

"We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends," said the spokesperson.

Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents' Los Angeles area home.

Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica's boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb.

What the eff is SJP wearing on her head?

Why was the SATC premiere in London and not NYC?

Why didn't I resist the temptation to read the spoilers out yesterday from some critics who already saw the movie?

The Bushes Partied

As tiny Crawford, Texas, and surrounding towns emptied of wedding guests on Sunday, President Bush pronounced the weekend an "awfully special" one. And, by all accounts, an emotional one for the First Family.

"Our little girl, Jenna, married a really good guy," the president told reporters on the tarmac before boarding Air Force One with First Lady Laura Bush and his parents for the return trip to Washington, D.C.

The ultra-private wedding on Bush's gated ranch was the president's first turn at playing Father of the Bride. In a suit and tie (Jenna, aiming for a more "natural" and casual affair, didn't want black-tie), Bush walked his 26-year-old daughter down the aisle to a limestone altar topped by a 4-ft. cross where she and Henry Hager, 30, exchanged vows just as the sun set. The bride's twin sister and maid of honor, Barbara, did a reading during the ceremony, as did their grandfather, George H.W. Bush.

Like their politics or not, you gotta admit that the First Family looks pretty darn good.

Next Up, After Susan Lucci Fashions...

Here's a place Carrie Bradshaw wouldn't be caught dead - the Home Shopping Network. And it seems like the same is true for the actress who plays her, Sarah Jessica Parker. While developers of her Coty perfume lines, "Lovely" and "Covet Pure Bloom," insist that Parker "was never asked to be on the Home Shopping Network because of her schedule," HSN insiders get the impression that Parker "doesn't want to ever appear" on the channel.

Coty confirmed Parker's two scents will be hawked on the dial-in shopping channel this month, but say the deal hardly involved her. Company reps told Page Six the "Sex and the City" star approved the deal, but "Coty signed with HSN, not Sarah Jessica." Parker's perfume launch is part of a celeb trend segment on the network - but don't expect to see Jennifer Lopez, Calvin Klein and Gwen Stefani hawking their fragrances, either, to the folks at home.

Kelly Taylor's Back!

Kelly Taylor is returning to that exclusive zip code, 90210.

As was rumored, Jennie Garth will make special guest appearances on the CW’s new spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210, playing a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly High, the network announced Saturday.

Garth is the first original cast member to sign on to the spinoff — though many former stars (including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering) are lobbying for parts. Since the announcement was made last month, the cast has been rapidly filling up: Lori Loughlin has signed on to play Debbie Mills, wife of the high school principal who returns to take care of his alcoholic mother.

The high school principal has not yet been cast.

Montana Sues Ex-Wife

Football legend and NFL Hall-Of-Famer Joe Montana is suing his ex-wife and a Texas auction house over the sale of old college love letters.

The former 49ers and Chiefs quarterback is suing his first wife, Kim Moses, and Heritage Auction house for selling the words-of-woo and other memorabilia from his time at the University of Notre Dame. Items includes are: Joe's freshman I.D. card; a letter to Moses penned on a Ziggy card; a University of Notre Dame letter of intent and Joe and Kim's 1979 marriage certificate. The Smoking Gun has photos here.

According to TMZ.com, Joe is suing in excess of $75,000 -- claiming the items were obtained and sold by Moses without his consent. Montana, 51, claims that the sale of the assorted items--which were auctioned last weekend violated his copyright and privacy rights.

Moses' lawyers released this statement: "Ms. Moses is extremely disappointed by this lawsuit. The allegations in Mr. Montana's lawsuit are untrue. All of the items that are the subject of Mr. Montana's lawsuit belong to Ms. Moses, including property that she received from Mr. Montana as token of love and appreciation. The Property Settlement Agreement signed by them makes clear that the property at issue belongs to Ms. Moses."

Still a Bachelor

Bachelor Andy Baldwin and his girlfriend Marla Maples have called it quits, he said.

Baldwin's recent move to Washington, D.C. to take a job as an advocate for Navy Medicine put a strain on their relationship, he tells Us. "The big move coupled with the long distance relationship wasn't working for us so I decided we were better off as friends," Baldwin says.

He first broke the news to the Washington Post. "We were friends, it got romantic for a little while, but we're just friends," he told the paper. Baldwin, 31, and Maples, 44, met last year and spent New Year's together. They recently celebrated Easter in Hawaii. "He's just a good soul," Maples told Us in April. "He's an absolute, complete gentleman." A source close to Baldwin said, “He is inspired by her.”

Baldwin was briefly engaged to Tessa Horst, who won the final rose on The Bachelor.

Wino's Arrested

Amy Winehouse has been arrested in connection with alleged drug offenses and is being questioned by police in East London, her rep said.

A statement from the singer's U.S. spokesperson said, "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year." In January 2008, after being caught on camera allegedly doing drugs, the soul diva, 24, entered rehab.

Late last month, she spent a night in police custody in London after being cautioned for "common assault," a law official said.

In an interview this past Friday – following reports the singer would perform the new James Bond title song – her music producer, Mark Ronson said Winehouse was "not ready to record any music."

RIP Eight Belles

I was so sad to see the fall (and soon thereafter, death) of Eight Belles during the Kentucky Derby. She finished in second place, but collapsed moments later with two broken front ankles. An ambulance reached the track and euthanized her on the spot. The on-call vet told the AP, "There was no possible way to save her. She broke both front ankles. That's a bad injury."

Too bad he couldn't euthanize Speidi while he was at it:

Baby Got Back

Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a big caboose - and she's not going to hide it anymore! "I came to grips with my bum. Before, I always tied a shirt around my waist when I went for a run. It was ridiculous," the acerbic blond star of "The View" tells next month's Fitness magazine. "I finally told myself, 'I'm not doing this anymore - I have nothing to hide.' I've got some curves, I've got a bubble butt, but I don't mind, because it's what powers me forward when I run."

I certainly can sympathize, girlfriend.
