ABBA Better Get It

If Kiss has it their way, they'll get to "rock & roll all nite" in music's greatest home: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band has been eligible for years but this is the first they have been nominated along with Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, LL Cool J, ABBA, the Chantels and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. "It's a real honor to be nominated in our first year of eligibility. Obviously the Hall of Fame has excellent musical taste," Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith told Billboard.

The acts gain a shot at the Hall of Fame 25 years after their first single or album. A group of more than 500 musicians and music professionals will vote on the group, and winners will be honored at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on March. 15.

The Hall of Fame is also having a 25th anniversary concerts on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 at New York's Madison Square Garden, and will be releasing the book "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: The First 25 Years" along with a nine-DVD boxed set, "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live."

It's the Pitts

Jennifer Aniston burst into tears in her trailer while filming in New York -- telling an assistant that a scene "reminded her of Brad Pitt," a source said.

The unlucky-in-love actress was late coming out of her trailer while filming "The Bounty" with Gerard Butler a few weeks ago. The source said that when an assistant went to fetch Aniston, she was in tears, and said, "I need a moment. This scene reminds me of Brad and me."

Aniston pulled herself together and managed to put on a smile when she eventually emerged from her trailer. The insider added, "While she enjoyed flirting with Gerard on set and put a brave face on every day, privately she is still very fragile."

Tacky

Joe Jackson raised eyebrows by bringing a curvy new recording artist he manages as his date to the VMAs on the night honoring his son, Michael.

Jackson arrived at Radio City Music Hall with a singer known as Taina. But Jennifer Lopez was not amused when Jackson introduced her to his date, who was wearing an eye-popping dress. As they took their seats, J.Lo was spotted giving Marc Anthony a look as if to say: "What is Joe doing?"

Other guests at the awards said they were surprised Jackson chose to bring the busty singer rather than wife Catherine to see Janet's tribute performance to his son. One said: "It was a night to honor Michael. Some people thought it was strange he brought a singer as his date. There's a time to work the media, and there's a time to stay quiet and respectful."

Mo'Nique an Oscar Contender?

Let the Oscar race begin. Dick Cavett, Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn, Bob Balaban and Joel Schumacher saw "Precious" this weekend in East Hampton, and emerged in awe of the performance by Mo'Nique.

"She doesn't steal the film -- she kicks, screams and pummels it into an Oscar no-brainer," Forbes.com media critic Bill McCuddy said. The movie, backed by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, won raves at Cannes and Sundance, and much was made of Mariah Carey's makeup-free appearance. Said McCuddy: "If Oprah can get Barack [Obama] elected, she can get Mo'Nique either a Best Supporting Oscar or a Cabinet post."

Move Over, Vicky

Watch out, Victoria Beckham -- your pal Katie Holmes has taken over your turf. An insider said that high-end LA boutique Maxfield, which bought Holmes' new fash ion line Holmes & Yang, re cently dropped Beckham's denim line, dVb by Victoria Beckham. "Maxfield no longer carries dVb," said the source, who cited "poor sales" as the reason. The line was previously dropped by Kitson, Saks and Bendels.

Good Deed

Jay-Z joined Beyoncé at Madison Square Garden yesterday to announce he'll mark the eighth anniversary of 9/11 with a concert to benefit the families of New York's Finest and Bravest who perished that tragic day. The "Answer the Call" show is Sept. 11, with hopes of raising $750,000 for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund. Tickets go on sale Sept. 8 for $50 each.

Still Hanging On

Cameras are rolling on the new season of "Real Housewives of New York City" after the regulars all agreed to a new deal. A crew was spotted arriving at Jill Zarin's fabric firm yesterday, and all the housewives are expected to head to the Hamptons to film together Thursday. But there are still doubts about the cast as producers have two new women waiting in the wings. A source said, "If the story lines are not interesting enough, there are two housewives who could still be replaced."
