Some homophobic Clay Aiken fans have lodged a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission over the marketing and promotional practices of Aiken's label.

They charge false advertising and misrepresentation and conspiring to market and promote Aiken - the "American Idol" contender who allegedly had a tryst with a former military man - in a false and deceptive manner. A spokesman for the group said, "As consumers, we feel ripped off. It is obvious now that the private Clay is very different from the manufactured, packaged public Clay who was marketed to us."

You have got to be f*cking kidding me. These people are dumb enough to latch onto an American Idol "Star", then have the nerve to complain that he is not the manufactured, pre-packaged star he was touted to be. People like these involved are exactly what is wrong with America: Happy to follow the crowd like lambs to the slaughter only to bitch about the knife being too dull or too sharp.

Umm, did they not see "Idol" when Clay first auditioned? They completely gave him a makeover and packaged him into an entirely different person for the show. I'd say they were rather up-front about what they were doing, too.
