Dallas Cast

A cast for the upcoming Dallas adaptation is taking form, with producers hoping for an October start.

Director Robert Luketic has offered his Monster-In-Law colleague, Jennifer Lopez the part of Sue Ellen Ewing, while Luke WIlson is in talks to play Bobby Ewing and John Travolta has been offered the part of J.R. Shirley McLaine is set to play Miss Ellie Ewing.

Whilst no contracts have yet been signed, Variety reports that all of the deals are likely to be reached.

--I love Luke Wilson, but I think he'd be a terrible Bobby. It needs to be someone taller and more universally handsome. Bobby (Patrick Duffy) was the beefcake of that era. Personally, I think Tara Reid should play Lucy.

I'm not happy with any of these choices. Miss Ellie was very warm and down-to-earth and I don't think S. McLaine can pull that off. Tara Reid would be a great Lucy and J.R. should be played by Tommy Lee Jones.

can hollywood not come up with any new ideas? what the ****? i wonder how many remakes there have been in the past 2 years? and they complain no one goes to the movies anymore....

It sounds like they are making a comedy remake from the cast list.

Not happy with this cast list at all ... but they know it's the only thing that will put butts in the seats, folks. I'm 27, and I watched "Dallas" with my parents growing up, but much younger than me and you're getting into "What's 'Dallas'?" territory and excluding a big movie-going audience range.

OMG - while Travolta's an inspired choice for JR, I don't know this Wilson guy. JLo for Sue Ellen? And what ARE they thinking with Shirley MacLaine? Do they want to deep six this project before it shoots?
