Big Show For the Big Dance

I gotta give my town credit: they've put on a great show for the Big Dance. The city is packed, business is booming, and all the out-of-towners I've talked to have had nothing but nice things to say about Indianapolis.

I went downtown with some friends on Saturday to people watch and listen to some of the bands. The Bodeans sounded great. Hoobastank, on the other hand, did just that: stank. They were awful, and they didn't even have any idea who was playing in the games that day. Morons.

Then, there was a Nick Lachey sighting. He came out on stage and talked for a bit--didn't sing though. The rest of the day consisted of eating and drinking in packed bars.

Yesterday I didn't come downtown for all the concerts. I instead went straight to a party at the Columbia Club where a lot of VIPs were drinking and relaxing before they went on stage.

As editor of MP&S, I always report on what celebs are doing in cities other than my own. I'd love to bring you hot scoop, but honestly, it usually doesn't happen in Indiana. The best I can do is report who I saw yesterday. I'm not an autograph hound, so I just have pics from afar, and you'll have to take my word for it.

Dick Enberg (showing his age)
Greg Gumbel (not as chunky looking in person)
Carrie Underwood (she's a gorgeous girl, and sweet as can be)
Kareem Abdul Jabbar (ok, so I knew he was tall...but I didn't realize JUST how tall!)
Rupert from Survivor (Looked as ragged as usual)
Jared the Subway guy (T-O-O-L)
Nick Lachey (again--this time just a few feet away; too much hair gel)
John Mellencamp (like Dick, he's showing his age, but man can he still rock. He rocked out on the Circle to over 80,000 people. He's a true showman who appreciates his fans.

That's all, folks...

You Said

What did the out of towners think about the tornado at the end of the concert?

Eh, it added a little drama. No one seemed too concerned, actually.

I can't be bothered with anything these days, but such is life. I don't care. So it goes. More or less nothing seems worth thinking about. I've just been hanging out waiting for something to happen, but that's how it is.
