Heaton To Replace Vieira?

If you missed it, click here to watch Meredith Vieira reveal on The View that she'll be taking Katie Couric's spot.

Insiders say "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Patricia Heaton will step in for Vieira. And to help boost viewership among Latinos, the young, Argentine-born Marianela Pereyra, a veejay on Fuse TV, will be added - perhaps booting Elizabeth Hassleback.

"Patty Heaton is a Republican, so they won't need [Republican] Elizabeth any more," said our insider. "And Elizabeth doesn't really add much. Marianela will bring in the young Latina viewers - which is important," said one source.

"Patty and Marianela were going to have their own shows, but there is not enough room in the TV schedule now, so it kills two birds with one stone," the source added.

--I'd love to see Patty Heaton get into it with Star "It's all about the new, thin me" Jones.

Wow...I now have even less reason to ever watch this show.

I don't watch, but somehow I wish Patricia Heaton wasn't joining that show. I like her, and that seems like a sorry gig (though I'm sure the pay isn't sorry).

Says: Kelly at April 7, 2006 10:46 AM

I can't stand her, probably because of the mean wife character she played on Everybody Loves Raymond, but also because I just do not see what people think is so goodlooking about her.

I, too, like Patricia Heaton and am sorry to know she is joining The View of all things.

And God forbid 2 Republicans be allowed on the same TV show.

Mean wife character???Did you ever watch the show?

Says: Hutch at April 7, 2006 09:40 PM

Whatever happened to the views orginal plot of real women from differentwalks of life? how about a single parent trying to break in to the business or like Debbie before she waas given the boot, a young actress just starting out?

Says: Rhonda at April 8, 2006 06:24 PM

I hadn't been aware that there was a 1-Republican-per-group-of-harpies stipulation in Hollywood.

Says: Jeff at April 9, 2006 09:50 AM

Hutch,

Yes, I watched the show. Did you? She was horrible to Raymond. Hell, any husband would have left her long ago the way she treated him. Yeah, it was funny, but then mistreating husbands and branding them stupid is always funny in today's sitcoms. Lots of them do it, but Heaton was very mean-spirited.

And she ain't particually attractive either -- despite her plastic surgery.

Says: TWM at April 10, 2006 10:32 AM

leave her alone..Raymond was funny,Star need to come out about how much weight she actually lost on her ownand how much was surgical
