The Alien Fetus Has Landed

The Tomkitten has arrived. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the high-profile pair dubbed TomKat by the media, had a baby girl Tuesday, said Cruise spokesman Arnold Robinson. The baby, named Suri, weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20 inches long, he said.

"Both mother and daughter are doing well," Robinson said in a prepared statement. The name Suri has its origins in Hebrew, meaning "princess," or in Persian, meaning "red rose," the statement said.

The baby was born in Los Angeles but the exact location was not disclosed. It's the first child for Holmes, 27. Cruise, 43, has an adopted daughter and son from his marriage to Nicole Kidman. Details surrounding the birth, which was planned under the tenets of the Church of Scientology as a silent procedure, weren't disclosed.

You Said

Suri?

I keep singing "Surrey With the Fringe on Top" from "Oklahoma." I know Chuck feels me on this. :)

Grier should be ok. I'm sure Brooke is downing the happy pills at this very moment.
I feel sorry for Suri and I can't wait to read the book she'll write someday.

p.s. Is it mean to hope that Katie's screams during childbirth peeled the 'paper right off the wall? ;)

I actually thought Suri was a pretty name. Its certainly not "traditional American" but its pretty. And its not Apple.

Says: robin at April 19, 2006 12:23 PM

I think Suri is a pretty name too. I don't like traditional boring names that everyone else has. I even think Apple is cute! whats the big deal w/ apple anyway....there has been people named peaches..summer, rain..dakoda...montana..georga....same difference..at least its better than an UGLY state name. And she opted for the epidural...what a whimp....
