Fonda Lands L'Oreal Gig

Veteran actress Jane Fonda is the surprise new face of L'Oreal, heading a lucrative advertising campaign at the age of 68.

The star joins a glittering list of celebrity spokesmodels including Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz after signing to front L'Oreal Paris anti-aging treatment. The $700,000 contract will see Fonda endorse the face cream on billboards and magazines, and the actress - who is a vocal critic of cosmetic surgery - insists she is perfect for the role.

She says, "Somebody's got to give a face to getting old. I'm going to try and organize other women in my profession and my friends to say no to the duck lips and getting rid of the wrinkles. I've just traveled through Sweden and Finland, looking at faces that were real... as opposed to, in Hollywood, (where) everybody is starting to looking alike."

You Said

Too late! When I think of a lovely "old" woman, I think of Lauren Hutton.

TRAITOR

You go, Jane! I agree with everything you said in your statement. Getting older is not a disease to be avoided at all costs. It can a wonderful time if we JUST LET IT! Have fun!

TRAITOR! SHE ASSISTED IN THE TOURTURE OF POWS! MAY SHE ROT IN HELL!

Says: at May 6, 2006 05:35 AM

She may just make women NOT buy the product though. Especially we women veterans.

I love Jane Fonda. I am pround that she had the heart and courage to take a stand against American Imperialism. She is an ideal American and a genuine beauty.

Says: Roni at May 6, 2006 06:50 AM

Great..... I love here...

Great...no plastic surgery and she looks wonderful!! Good for her. She isn't a clone like all the others.

Says: clair at May 6, 2006 09:30 PM

To bad that she decided that plastic surgery was bad, after having numerous procedures in the past. Typical.Thanx Jane

It is about time, Loreal used an older woman. I use their products../but, all I have seen women in 30's & 40's. That is when, women are at their best.

Says: Wana at May 7, 2006 07:28 AM

She has good bones and I
agree that she should just relax and age gracefully. She may have made a mistake years ago but so do we all make mistakes. That doesn't negate her involvement in politics or anything else she wants to support.

Says: sue at May 7, 2006 09:11 AM

I think she looks good, looks her age, and she is right, the LA look is disgusting....lived there, will not have surgery myself either.....want to look like me!!!!! Beauty inside looks beautiful outside!!!!!! Sophia Loren should have been given the contract though!!!

Says: Marlo at May 7, 2006 11:37 AM

Loreal...get Sophia Loren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Says: Sarah at May 7, 2006 11:38 AM

Jane Fonda had cosmetic surgery years ago during her exercise video days...even had a couple of ribs removed to get a smaller waist. Besides that, I cannot forgive her for what she did during the Viet Nam War. I have never seen a Jane Fonda film since those days and being a blonde from a bottle, I will stop using Loreal immediately! There are too many other older women out there who are great role models.

Says: Eden at May 8, 2006 10:43 AM

If only Jane would run for president...or she'd make a great vice to hillary!!!

Says: Jan at May 8, 2006 11:30 AM

Let it go...the woman made a mistake over 30 years ago. We all did pretty stupid things in our youth but not in the public-eye like Ms. Fonda did. She looks great---good luck to her.

Says: Quinn at May 8, 2006 11:38 AM

lET HER LIVE. sO WHAT IF SHE MADE A MISTAKE ONCE WE ALL DO . gO FOR IT JANE

Says: at May 8, 2006 02:14 PM

Anyone who buys L'OWhoreal is being foolish -- unless you wanna take a stand for hate -- A Nazi is still on the Bof Directors, although some have died by now. Read the book Bitter Scents, about L'OWhoreal and their connections. That and their animal testing? Do not buy. Boy is Jane stupid. Hell-o!

Says: Yur Mama at May 8, 2006 04:52 PM

I just think she's great. She's so open and a good role model for younger women
