File this under predictable: "John From Cincinnati" has caught its last wave on HBO.
This was a bad fit from the start. Iceman accurately pointed out, "The Saved By the Bell curse lives on!" (Mark Paul Gosselaar was in a few episodes). The thing that always made me laugh was that it was classified as a "surf noir" show. Um, "surf noir?" Probably not a big market for that. Ha.

Its a shame. I really liked this show. Sure it was dark, creepy, and you never really knew what was going on, but it was also extremely entertaining, had a Deadwood-ish dialogue (same creator), and Luke Perry to boot. At least once an episode Rebecca DeMornay would have some crazy, off the wall shoutfest (she can over-act like no other), plus you had Al Bundy talking to his dead wife through his pet birds. Everything a show should have.

On two separate occasions, I told myself I'd give this show "a chance." Sat down to watch, and both times I had changed the channel within 15 minutes. It just didn't do it for me. Perhaps it was Sopranos hangover, I don't know ... once HBO loses Entourage, I think I may have to call Comcast about giving the entire network the axe from my monthly bill (though Curb Your Enthusiasm is top notch).
