Live Bloggin' the Oscars
5:52--Ok, so I think Giuliana's dress is pretty...but, does it need to be so BIG? JEEZ.
6:02--Wow. Jennifer Lawrance looks smokin' in red Calvin Klein.
6:05--Kelly Osborne's hair is horrendous. Way too Bride of Frankenstein.
6:09--is it too much to ask for less face time for Seacrest? Wait. Who am I kidding? EVERYONE on E! is annoying.
6:12--Melissa Leo clearly snagged one of my grandmother's Christmas tablecloths for her dress.
6:14--Mila Kunis looks beautiful. A little nervous she's gonna have a wardrobe malfunction, though.
6:26--Valentino should be ashamed of himself for Florence's dress.
6:26--Hailee Steinfeld looks very cute and age appropriate in Marchesa.
6:35--Michelle Williams just made me fall asleep. Snooze.
6:39--Love the color of Amy Adams' dress, but the cut and neckline are terrible.
6:40--Anne Hathaway looks amazing. JenHud also wearing red. That seems to be the go-to color so far.
6:45--OMG. Cate Blanchett looks so gorgeous. Daring dress is just killer. She never disappoints.
7:08--Someone get me whatever Sharon Stone is taking. She doesn't age!
7:12--I love black and purple together, and I want to love Marisa Tomei's dress, but it is just bad. How she can look fat in anything is beyond me.
7:20--Oh, Helena Bonham Carter is a mess. As usual. God bless her defiance.
7:25--Could Penelope and Javier be any cuter? Or hotter?
7:26--Did the stylists not compare notes to figure out that EVERYONE is wearing red?
7:27--Who glue-gunned the crap to the bottom of Halle's dress? All kinds of bad.
7:29--Oh, lord, Reese. That hair is soooooo bad. And, I think her dress looks WAY too similar to Julia Roberts' dress the year she won for Erin Brokovitch.
7:31--ScarJo looks stunning. Love the cut, love the color, love the messy, sexy hair.
7:39--Sandra Bullock looks glowing in red Vera Wang. Her best accessory is not having that cheating husband with her.
7:54--Oh, how I love Robert Downey, Jr. He can SO pull off the white tie/white shirt like it's nobody's business.
8:02--Natalie Portman looks stunning. She finally got it right.
8:05--Text from my mom: Justin Timberlake's mom needs a bra.
8:12--I love Nicole Kidman's dress from the waist up. I HATE her dress from the waist down.
8:35--SHOW TIME!
8:37--The Delorean!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8:39--I'm not sure how I feel about someone hosting who is also nominated. Just doesn't seem right.
8:40--This monologue is TERRIBLE. Please tell me Steve Martin and Billy Crystal are backstage and ready to take over.
8:51--Anne should dump James. He's a complete dud.
8:57--Kirk Douglas is hilarious. And, probably going over his time limit.
8:57--Melissa Leo wins. (Correct pick by me).
8:59--And, we have our first f-bomb.
9:14--Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) wins Best Adapted Screenplay. (Correct pick by me).
9:18--The King's Speech wins for Original Screenplay. (Incorrect pick by me. I picked Inception).
9:25--Love me some Les Mis.
9:26--I never thought Helen and Russell would have been a good combo, but they were great!
9:32--Christian Bale wins Best Supporting Actor. (Correct pick by me, but oh how I wanted Geoffrey Rush to win).
9:35--My boyfriend thinks I should care that the Blackhawks are in overtime. I do not.
9:43--Trent Reznor wins for The Social Network. Man, has he gone down a different path from NIN. (Correct pick by me).
10:30--Somone turn up Randy Newman's mic. You can barely hear the guy.
Manfriend takes over blogging for the night...
10:12--Not so sure about the gray tux shirt for James Franco.
10:14--Dear Luke Matheny, way to say what everyone was thinking, your hair is horrend.
10:17--Uh, Oprah, the only time I really feel like things are bad is when I get stuck watching daytime TV.
10:25--This is definitely the slow part of the show.
10:27--Lawren was not impressed by the Kevin Harvick #29 Budweiser NASCAR shirt that I wore to her Oscar viewing event. I thought it was appropriate Sunday apparel.
10:30--I loved Bob Hope in The Lemon Drop Kid.
10:32--WOW! My compliments to the writers for whomever came up with Jude Law's joke...and for Robert Downey Jr. for being willing to have it at his expense.
10:34--I thought RD Jr. might have something more to say in response.
10:42--Lawren loves Florence and The Machine (amazing talent), though she did not like her previous attire.
10:44--I've got to think that Gwyneth is happy to have that over.
10:46--Randy Newman is pretty funny. Let me take that back, he is the funniest person on this show in the past hour.
10:53--Even though I don't know many of these people, I still always find this tribute to be touching. Dennis Hopper, I will always think of you as Shooter.
10:57--I know he sang over an hour ago, but I had no idea that Zachary Levi (Chuck from NBC) could sing. Impressive, though I'm not sure his character as a Best Buy-type computer guy is really designed to have him bursting out in song.
11:06--I thought of Eli Wallach the other day when I was watching Godfather III.
11:07--I know he's a good actor, but it's probably pretty easy to play the role of a really old guy in a movie when you're...well, really old. He was born in 1915.
11:11--I'm glad that Warren Beatty appreciates it, but I have never found Annette Bening's particularly appealing.
11:14--Does anyone else find it strange when they show a clip of a movie to highlight an actor's role and the majority of the clip features a different actor?
11:16--Best Actress goes to Natalie Portman - Lawren predicted Annette Bening.
11:19--I'm still frustrated by Natalie Portman's character in the final three Star Wars movies.
11:19--Lawren does not like the shiny blue Colts dress for Anne Hathaway.
11:20--Is Jeff Bridges actually acting in these movies or does he just talk like that naturally?
11:24--My mom and sister made me watch the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice when I was younger. Colin Firth was great in that, so I'm happy for him.
11:26--I think it odd that I'm talking about Colin Firth in a six-hour miniseries but I have been overheard saying that I probably won't see The King's Speech because I'm concerned that my short attention span won't allow it.
11:28--For the activist Hollywood folk, has anyone asked if those Oscar envelopes are made out of recycled paper?
11:33--Rocky the cat thinks that The Social Network could sneak in and steal Best Picture from The King's Speech, but he is pessimistic.
11:34--Uh, is this a sign that The King's Speech has it wrapped up. "Nice" montage???
11:35--Rocky the cat is still giving The King's Speech a standing Meow.
11:36--Note to self, if you want to win an Oscar, make your movie about something British.
11:38--My favorite moment of the whole night was when that one guy won an obscure award early in the show and said, "I should have lost that 20 lbs." before he even started. That is some decent comedy.
11:44--An MPS reader just texted in and made the point that while people are going hungry all over the world, the Academy Award people flew in 40 kids from NYC to sing one song. I'm not trying to sound cheap here, but I'm guessing there were some kids from a school down the street that could have handled that detail. If I'm missing something, well, I guess I missed something.
11:51--Unless anyone wants me to blog my thoughts as I watch the rest of Sneakers on HBO, I'll go ahead and shut this down. Manfriend out.
